POCATELLO, Idaho - UC Davis opened play at the Idaho State Classic with a 2-1 victory over host Idaho State, Friday, at Davis Field in Pocatello. Jordan Martin scored the only individual goal for the Aggies, who were helped by a game-deciding own goal late in the second half. The win improves UC Davis to 3-2-2 on the year while ISU dropped to 2-5-1.

The Bengals wasted little time taking the game's first lead when Lauren Ryan scored her second goal of the season 95 seconds into the contest to give ISU a 1-0 lead. Following the quick score, defense became the main theme as neither team found the net for the next 66 minutes.

At that point, the Aggies turned a 1-0 deficit into a 1-1 tie when Martin scored her second goal of the season. Her goal was the end result of a sequence started by a throw-in by Lauren Huntley. It would remain tied for another nine minutes before the fateful own goal gave UC Davis a 2-1 lead with just under 14 minutes remaining in regulation.

The Aggies made the most of limited opportunities in the second half. Martin's goal was just one of three shots in the period. In all, ISU outshot UC Davis, 12-11. Samantha Faber led the Aggies with three shots with eight other players posting one shot apiece.

Sarah Peters picked up the win in goal, finishing with four saves. The sophomore has allowed just one goal in the past 202 minutes.

The win was the second straight for the Aggies and pushed the team's record to a perfect 3-0-0 in games decided in regulation.

UC Davis concludes the tournament Sunday when it faces Utah Valley at 10 a.m.
