Based on Adras' intensity and demeanor on the sideline, I can definitely see how he could have rubbed some players the wrong way. There's no such thing as pleasing everyone, though. NAU's players generally stayed out of trouble and graduated. Unless we're talking about Coach Calipari and regardless of the sychophants screaming for NCAA bids year in and year out, one of the jobs of a college coach is to ensure his players succeed in the academic setting. Adras was successful in that manner. Many of his players have gone overseas and had successful international careers as well.
NAU fans who think they'll be able to do that much better don't know a whole lot about the state of college basketball. As much as I love NAU, it's not exactly a dream destination. Mike Krzyzewski and Roy Williams aren't on the phone as I type. The reasons I chose to go to NAU - beautiful scenery, choice hiking/camping/mountain biking/it wasn't "Phoenix" or "Tucson" - are not the reasons the average big time college basketball recruit does.
I'm taking time off from basketball tomorrow til the NAU-Bakersfield game starts.
