Re: 2018 Schedule

Weirder things have happened, GAS. In 1995, the Big West was rated LOWER than the Big Sky, yet UOP hosted Oregon State, one of the Tigers' three wins en route to a 3-8 season record (largely due to the extreme body-bag schedule that featured suicide games against Fresneck, Arizona, Nebraska, Oregon,...

Re: 2018 Schedule

Who negotiated the Aztec contract? Shouldn't that be a home-and-home, or at least a 2-for-1? I realize they'd probably buy their way out of the return trip to Sac, but even that extra cash would be a help....

Re: 2018 Schedule

SD's posit of having to win 8 of 9 is probably true, but it's also doable, assuming that the Griz are that one loss. The potential monkey wrenches in that scenario are Cow Poly, BBQ, the Sioux, SUU, and perhaps NAU. The others are gimmies. That said, don't discount the possibility of a bodybag upset...

Re: CSU- Bakersfield Accepts invite to Big West

And I'm hearing reports (rather early and vague, mind you) of that D-I INO Utah Valley to the WCC to replace the Zags.

That would be ANOTHER questionable move, IMO.

Well, at least he's coaching OL again. By now, though, one would think that Angus would at least be OC somewhere....

I don't know if this involves a schollie or if he's walking on, but one of our OLs at Lodi Union High School West Campus was announced in yesterday's Lodi News-Sentinel as having chosen Hornet Town. He is apparently expected to play long snapper....

Re: Price of Success

In most cases, I would agree with GAS, but given the prior relationship with the new HC (same as the old HC), I can see it.

Re: M: 2017-18 Season

Is there something of a BSC-WCC Challenge going on? We're playing Saint Mary's, while UOP is playing Northern Colorado. Is the same thing going on around the conference?

Re: CSU- Bakersfield Accepts invite to Big West

With the exception of LBSU, SD is correct. The only arena even close to D-I standards (IMO) besides the Pyramid was Spanos Center, and now THAT arena is in the West Coast Conference. The worst was UC Riverside, whose gym was about the size of a middle school gym. They let opposing fans dominate the ...

Re: Ricky Ray=Tom Brady of the CFL

Why in the heck did he have to beat my favorite CFL team to do it? I've been a fan of all things Calgary since the '88 Winter Olympics...AND they had my third favorite male quarterback for a LONG time....

Don't Be Surprised...

...if Sears IS out. This is pure speculation, of course, but Encino-Crespi QB Hamish McClure has committed to Sac. That, plus the recent dismissal of UCLA HC Jim Mora (odd replacement in Chip Kelly, BTW), raises the distinct possibility in MY mind that his father Angus may well be coming home. Wheth...

Re: Sears Big Sky COY

GL: As one who served (and attempted to play) during the Volek Era, I find that I must strongly object to your insinuation that the Volek staff wasn't "in sync." They did a GREAT job in taking advantage of the gift of a once-in-a-lifetime RB. I do agree with you, however, that Sears has done a wonde...

Re: 2018 Schedule

Any objection to scheduling a cr@p FBS (read: Sun Belch/WAC) in Week 1? Or perhaps a FBS with a history of losing to FCS (read: Oregon State)? Either option would give us a winnable game, FBS credit, and not really beat us up. And then we could replace SDSU in Week 2 with USD for a good "par FCS" ga...

Re: New Contract

Some of us don't owe him an apology. I hope seven wins will compel Orr to give Coach Sears a new contract. He's proven he's the right guy. Thomson was ready at NAU, and the coaches decided to not play him, they are in the playoffs and we are at home. That makes him a great coach, ready to anoint hi...

Curious, did anyone catch the throwback “SAC” Helmet logo yesterday? Love it! Really think we should bring it back as the official helmet logo. Also love the helmet stripes with inspirational words!

Hornets didn’t win the game, they just didn’t lose it.

Why does anyone employ the prevent defense?
I want to ask that very question of our football staff at Lodi High. The prevent defense cost us a win in our rivalry game against Tokay High a couple of weeks back. SMH....
