2015 Sand Volleyball

Post by josephpoint » Sat Mar 14, 2015 9:15 pm

Hornets beat San Jose State today to go 2-2.

Do not know much of anything about sand volleyball.

We play at the Sac State softball complex? That is what the articles say? Does anyone attend these matches?
Sure it is a great sport and truly appreciate the athletes involved. Sure it is intense. Just curious about this new sport for the Hornets that no one talks about.
I watch this sport in the Olympics and it is incredible. Is there any fan interest?

Anyway, just assume that sand volleyball is good for our fall volleyball indoor program that was once dominant in the Big Sky and needs big help in coming back to where it used to be many, many years ago now. Would so love to see volleyball at Sac State come back to life in the fall. It was a sport we always could count on for titles. Just do not understand the huge fall in this sport and if anyone is paying attention to the need for a possible coaching change?
Normally hear year after year of late that the Hornets are young and up and coming/ How long does this go on? It did not matter if Coach Colberg had all freshman or all seniors. She won with every team she had for decades.

FYI, there is a name change in the works. As this emerging sport approaches NCAA recognition, there is a proposition to revert to the "original" name of beach volleyball....

Additionally, you are correct about how schools are using beach volleyball. This is quite similar to the relationship between cross country and indoor/outdoor track. It's a great way to get walk-ons under schollie given the limited number of schollies each sport allows. It also allows coaches to evaluate talent in the offseason.
