2019 Recruiting
Figure this is as good a place as any to add links. Big story in the Bee last week on this kid... https://www.sacbee.com/sports/article224687370.html
Re: 2019 Recruiting
Good article by Joe Davidson about the Hornets recruiting locally, including updates on verbals.

Looks like a good recruiting day for the Hornets too!
Re: 2019 Recruiting
* - wise, this is the Hornets’ biggest haul ever. Incredible considering how much time the new staff had - looks like the connections to Folsom paying dividends early.Bodega Joe wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 1:02 pmLooks good... several 2 and 3 star players.

Re: 2019 Recruiting
Good haul, especially considering the limited time this coaching staff had on the recruiting trail.

I agree class looks good for short term recruiting. I am guessing they may still get a few recruits over the next month. The ones I see here have a drive to win!

I also saw this in the SacBee:
Sacramento State also secured walk-on commitments from Folsom seniors Parker Clayton (receiver), Dylan Jorge (linebacker) and Gavin Davis-Smith (defensive back).

Re: 2019 Recruiting
Looks like Portland State had the top ranked Big Sky recruiting class with 10 three star recruits and 14 two star recruits.

Looks like the Hornets are already ramping up recruiting for next season. I saw this kid play a couple times last season. He's a player.
FWIW, here's Skattebo going 'Beast' mode in the State title game. He's got tremendous balance.

If you follow the coaches they have some really good 2020 recruits in for unofficials. Never remember any coaches in recent history getting ahead of the recruiting curve. Bout time!

My son was down there on campus yesterday with about 15 other prospects and really enjoyed the visit and campus. Fingers crossed! #StingersUp

Re: 2019 Recruiting
Hornets just got a commitment from Jake Dunniway a QB from San Diego Mesa JC. He committed out of high school to Davis but transfer after his freshman season. He played at St Mary high school. It looks to be a solid catch as he had a pretty good freshman season at the JC. From his highlights he looks to have a strong and accurate arm. His team played in the state title game and he was a teammate of Dewy Cotton who is on the roster. I’m not sure when he is eligible.

Interesting that they brought in another QB. What does that tell us about those playing behind Thomson, or do we have some players (QB's) perhaps leaving?Hornet Fever wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 11:34 amHornets just got a commitment from Jake Dunniway a QB from San Diego Mesa JC. Good luck to you and your son. Hope it all works out for the best.

Re: 2019 Recruiting
I like Thomson and he has proven he is more than capable of leading the offense, but he has yet to show he can make it through an entire season without missing snaps due to health. Dunniway brings depth and someone who, because of his JC experience, would ideally be ready to step in on a short notice.ChiCity wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 1:27 pmInteresting that they brought in another QB. The spring roster shows 3 other QBs (Ale, Meyer, Rice) battling for the 2nd QB spot. Ale has the most D1 snaps of the 3 but that was 2 years ago. Dunniway would be another QB thrown into the mix. The battle for the backup QB spot should be an interesting one to watch heading into next season.

Yes, you can never have too much QB depth. If the QBs are willing to compete and not transfer, it's a win for the program. After watching a few highlights of Dunniway and looking at his stats, I think it's pretty safe to slot him at 2B behind Ale a possibly 2A once the season starts. He has the size and the arm strength to make an impact at the FCS level.
If we look at the timeline, Thomson has two years left, if Dunniway takes a year off, would he be able to step in as the starting QB the year after Thomson graduates?
Re: 2019 Recruiting
Thank you. He'll be back down to compete at the Specialists Camp in June and after that we'll see what happens.
