I'm glad this is FINALLY settled. As stated previously, I don't think anyone on here was really against riding it out with Katz.
Looks like Orr/Nielsen believes that Katz can pair classroom success with stable on-court success. I'm all for it. Now, let's get that arena built and let's get a few trophies in there!

Glad this is over — for now anyway. So we don’t have to read anymore agenda driven threads about it.
Good for Katz and the program. Now until something can be done on the events center front, perhaps they can find a way to plan a couple more double header events at G1C. Playing 3-4 games at G1C each season rather than just one might help lure and create some new fans and help a tad with recruiting.

Does this mean we are allowed to talk about basketball again?
Yup. Sounds like this is going to be beneficial for both parties. I doubt it's going to be anywhere near the 6 years people have claimed in the verbal. Considering Katz turns 63 in November, a shorter deal is more sensible.
The question now is do any of the posters that turned up to post only on this issue stick around, or do they go dormant until Katz' next contract year?

Congratulations to the Hornets & AD Orr for securing Coach Katz & Hornet basketball's future.BuckeyeHornetFan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 4:02 pm Glad this is over — for now anyway. So we don’t have to read anymore agenda driven threads about it.

More games at Golden One, and maybe a yearly doubleheader with the Aggies every year?

They’ve already been doing the yearly game against UCD since G1C opened. Which is a good start.movielover wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 10:33 amCongratulations to the Hornets & AD Orr for securing Coach Katz & Hornet basketball's future.BuckeyeHornetFan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2020 4:02 pm Glad this is over — for now anyway. I’m saying they need to add a couple more games. They can do it as another double header with a couple marquee programs or perhaps in instances when they face an FBS team themselves.
Find a way to get a couple more games played at G1C.
Doubt we see an annual doubleheader with the dungpilers, just can't see them having the stones to take 2 "L's" from Katz every year.
And I would love to see more games in G1 ever year as that could only help on the recruiting trail.

I don’t see them playing two games either. I meant ‘double header’ as in tied to another marquee game. Like when Kansas played out here the first time around.
In order to justify playing at G1C against a fellow FCS team, the Hornets will have to continue to do so via a double header with a couple marquee programs headlining — to draw major interest.
Although they might be able to draw a nice crowd when they play a PAC-12 opponent themselves. Who knows.
But, yes, the idea of adding more games at G1C would be to use it in recruiting. Until they can get their own new digs.
I know that if I was a prospective recruit, knowing that I’d get to play at a venue like Golden One 2,3,4 times in a season would be something that would interest me compared to playing all games in an FCS only venue.
