With TCU leaving the MWC, I'm sure that that conference is looking to add USU.

The MWC, knows that they have a great opportunity of becoming the strongest basketball conference in the west. By adding USU they would secure that spot, as well as maintaining a solid base in Utah. This will invariably lead to the WAC's demise. Where will Idaho, San Jose State, or New Mexico State go?

Yes, the MWC might pick up two or even three WAC teams, but they are not going to add all four of the remaining big hitters. All I can say is...WELCOME BACK IDAHO!!

There is a lot of speculation about the conference shuffle. I don't think they add USU - I think they go with a Texas school or SJSU. Basketball is not the driver in all this - football is. USU and SJSU both suck in football, but SJSU gives you more media coverage and a California recruiting base. I don't see USU offering much to the MWC (at least in regards to football).
I do think a school or two from the WAC will join El Cielo Grande - probably Idaho.

The Mtn West has said that they have absolutely NO INTEREST in Idaho. And With Hawaii already joining the Mtn West, and Lou Tech wanting out of the WAC, that leaves only Utah State, San Jose St, Idaho and New Mex St.

The Mtn West has said that they want to destroy the WAC, (figuratively speaking) saying there is only room for 2 western conferences. (Pac 10-MWC)

At first I believed the MWC would take a couple texas schools to try and keep TCU in the conference, but now that TCU is gone, I believe the MWC will take Utah State and San Jose State and Maybe New Mexico State to get 12 teams. Thus destroying the WAC

That gives the MWC
1.Air Force
2.Colrado State
3.Wyoming
4.UNLV
5.San Diego State
6.New Mexico

New teams
7.Boise State
8.Fresno State
9.Nevada
.....
10.Utah State
11.San Jose State
12.New Mexico State

Now what happens to Idaho, they have a few options;

1. They can drop on thier hands an knees and Beg the Sun Belt to take them back. (Personaly I dont think the Sun Belt would want Idaho, mostly because of travel, thats why the Sun Belt was pushing Denver out).

2. They can drop football and send thier basketball to the Big West or Big Sky

3. They can swallow thier pride and join the Big Sky as a full member (enabling them to keep football)

Thats about all they can do. Texas State and Texas SA want to move to the FBS, but now I think they move to the C-USA.

Something that I think everyone forgets about USU and the MWC is that USU never received an invite to join, they were only asked if they had an interest in joining. My feeling on this is that the MWC commissioner was getting word on the deal going down between BYU and the WAC and he wanted to feel the situation out. I honestly don't see where USU ever gets an invite to the MWC because they literally don't bring anything to the table. They would have the smallest budget, no media market and zero recruiting. Lets face it this state only cares about the big two which is why I think in the future we will see more of a WSU USU games and comparisons.

As far as the 14th team is concerned I would like to see Idaho or (I know its a stretch) North Dakota State. Mainly because they have a lot of history with UND and they are a good fit.

Ive been saying it for the last 6 months. The WAC is done. After 11/12, they will close their doors. USU should be begging the MWC for a spot. If they don't get in, it is going to be a long slow death for a school with a great tradition. It would be sad to see. I certainly hope that USU can see its way through this fog. There is a lot of pride in Aggieville and it seems they would rather go bankrupt than drop down to FCS. The landscape is a changing, my friends.
