2/20: ISU @ WSU

That's right guys, the Bengals are gonna be back in town. We clinch a share of the conference title and the right to host with a win. I expect the game to be closer than most expect, as ISU will be pissed off over Lillard's 3-OT heroics. I think Weber will pull it out, and have a crowd of 7000+ going crazy for their 'Cats

Predictions? Keys to the game? Tailgating?

also ISU hosts CS Bakersfield tonight (monday). ill be watching the game and cheering on the roadrunners just this once lol. i go for big sky teams to win all ooc games but isu is coming to wsu this week!!!!! i want a demoralized bengal team coming in with a fresh loss to a 6-18 team LOL.

beating isu to become conf champs will be awesome! also, with isu losing they will be officially out of contention of getting in the conf tourney. a 2 stone night!

I'd love to see a lot more students at the game than last week. So much for the 1500 prediction.

What are the plans for getting more students to the games?

I think three easy things can be done by the student leaders (WSUSA???)
1. Signs on Campus
2. Paper signs (butcher paper or poster sheets) with game info in all the buildings at key entrance and exit points.
3. Flyers to students and on cars throughout the week. And at the dorms.

These things are easy and aren't really time consuming. The first two can be done in a couple of hours today, and then put in the buildings within an hour.

I persoanlly don't want ISU to lose to Seattle. It is actually benifical to WSU for a ISU win. We need to be looking at the bigger picture. If ISU loses then there is a possibility that the BSC drops a spot in the conference rankings. This plays a big role the selection committe makes in determining a seed for the BSC. I never want to see a BSC team lose a OOC game. We need to hope ISU wins tonight. It's also good for our own RPI.

If we are counting on a 7-18 ISU team helping any type of seed by the NCAA then we are screwed. It won't affect WSU one way or another if ISU wins or loses so therefore I really don't care.

Around the Big Sky

WEBER TAKES CONTROL: Weber State took control of the race for the regular-season title with a 76-66 win over Northern Arizona on Friday and an 81-76 victory over Northern Colorado on Saturday. Weber State is 11-2 in conference with three games remaining. The Wildcats hold a two-game lead over Northern Colorado and a three-game lead over Montana. Weber State can clinch at least a share of its second straight regular-season title with a home win on Saturday over eighth-place Idaho State. With a win Weber State will clinch the right to host the Big Sky Conference semifinals and championship on March 9-10. Although Northern Colorado could still tie Weber State for the regular-season title if Weber State wins on Saturday, there would be no way for the Bears’ to win a tiebreaker against the Wildcats. A Northern Colorado victory on Thursday over Eastern Washington would make it impossible for EWU to finish ahead of Montana State in the standings. Weber State went 2-0 against Montana State, while Northern Colorado was 1-1 against the Bobcats. Both WSU and NC finished 1-1 against Montana, 2-0 against Northern Arizona and would potentially both be 1-1 against Eastern Washington. Weber State has won or shared two of the last three regular-season titles. The Wildcats are 26-3 the past two seasons in conference games.

It's simple, win one more game and we host! A 26-3 record over the past two seasons in conference games is pretty damn impressive. That's winning almost 90% of the time. Coach Rahe is a wizard.

I speak tonight for the dignity of the Wildcats and the destiny of the Big Dance. I urge every alumni and student, citizens of Ogden and people from every section of this county, to join me on Saturday in the cause of Championshipdom.

At times history and fate meet at a single time in a single place to shape a turning point in man's unending search for freedom. So it was at Ogden and Pocatello. In my early days times such as these had the Dee Events Center at capacity.

In our time we have come to live with the moments of great champions. Our lives have been marked with debate about great issues -- issues of triumph and dynasty, issues of prosperity and depression (though rare). But rarely in any time does an issue lay bare the secret heart of Big Sky Championshipdom itself.

Join me!

Well our largest crowd last year was vs the Bungles.

Its pretty sad, when during the Biggest game of the year, only 5,800 show up to see it. the UNC game should have had at least 8,000.

This worries me come tourney time if we host, when in a game like UNC which had tourney implications only draws what it did.

On a side note, did any of you watch talkin sports on channel 2 on Sunday, they talked alot about the Jazz, and golf and the olympics then they started talking about BYU's basketball team, after talking about them for about 10 minutes, the one guy looked over to the other one and said, "I guess we should talk about Utah State and Weber State and what they are accomplishing". What? "I GUESS WE SHOULD"? Why the hell would it be an "I guess"? Then they went ahead and said a few things about USU and only said "With a win over UNC the Wildcats are now one step closer to hosting the Big Sky tournament". Thanks alot guys.

Between Presidents Day weekend people heading down South, and out of town, soccer tournaments in So. UT, & AZ, and Valentines' Day Weekend not a bad crowd, I thought there were more than 5,800. UNC had almost more students though, nice job ppak,WSUSA. embarrassing. We'll be in good shape for the Tourney. Can we knock off this IF WE HOST crap, we will be Hosting so order your tix. Superstitious bunch, I think.

Even though its Idaho State, I dont usually like to say its done when its not, if ISU just does happen to beat us its still up in the air, the bigskyconf.com article said If Weber beats the Bengals they will host, OK if and when Weber beats ISU I will start saying we will host, but until then, ONE GAME AT A TIME.

All we have to do is win so yeah I think we will be hosting. I hope there is a good crowd. I just wish I had more money. But with the big expense coming up just can't afford both.
