#2 in the Big Sky right now

Just wrote an article about this, but would love to hear your guys' opinions... who is #2 in the Big Sky as of now?

Right now, it seems to be the 4 realistic candidates are: Montana, EWU, Montana State, Portland State. Nobody has differentiated themselves, and they have all fallen flat at different times with chances to prove themselves. So, who do you think is Weber's biggest challenger based on what we have seen so far this season?

That's a good question. It's hard to say. If I had to pick based off how teams are performing right now, I'd say Portland State matches up better against Weber State than any of the others. Given WSU is without its top two rebounders, I think the Vikings could give WSU fits due to their size and how well they attack the boards.

I still think Eastern is gonna be the 2nd best team, but they need to cut down on the fouls, they foul way too much, but they are dangerous, especially when they are hot.

Montana is inconsistant, but they have the ability to get fired up fast, Will Cherry is explosive, and if he gets into a rythm, he could go Anthony Johnson on you.

I agree with hawks...I'd say, based on their style of play, that PSU can be scary. Hawks brings up a great point by emphasizing rebounding. Hopefully, Bull and Mook will be back by the time we face the Vikings. I still think, even with those two out, that the Cats can beat the Vikings, but it would be tough. Fulton vs. Tapscott is not a matchup I want to watch. :?

As for the second best team??? Thats a good question. I thought Eastern was, but they seem really inconsistent. To me, it looks like there are some chemistry issues. They started the season off strong, but have cooled off a bit since then. Montana isn't as good as they were last year. Without Qvale they are a shell of their former self. Yes, they have an incredibly solid and dangerous backcourt with Cherry, Stewart, and Jamaar, but Tinkles offense is center driven. If there isn't a solid center through which the offense can be run then they struggle. Defensively, the Grizz are still fairly stolid, but opposing teams can wear them down. The Grizz had a nice OOC schedule, that I thought would help them build confidence, but they haven't been able to capitalize on big wins.

MSU...could have a chance. They are starting to play well together and can be quite dangerous offensively, but...Huse's teams have a tendency to fall apart due to chemistry issues.
