Brady Borklund has committed to Weber State and will play for them next season.

Congratulations to Brady on his commitment. This brings the total number of Boys Metro players that have received scholarships in 2012 to 12. His commitment brings the total number of 2012 Boys Metro players that have received committed to d-I schools to 4.

Jordan Rex to Weber State

Jordan Rex has committed to Weber State and will play for them next season.

Congratulations to Jordan on his commitment. This brings the total number of Boys Metro players that have received scholarships in 2012 to 14. His commitment brings the total number of 2012 Boys Metro players that have received committed to d-I schools to 5.

Looks like Borklund is from our backyard, Bonneville High; and Rex played at SLCC by way of Pine View High School.

Hmmm...Not bad. Welcome to Weber Jordan and Brady. I'm guessing that Brady will be in the same position as Van Pelt, a freshman walk on giving the team extra depth with the possibility of earning a scholie. He is a mission kid and will leave sometime next spring.

Rex is a bit more interesting. Seems like he is a preferred walkon who could actually get some mins this year.

Rex is a 6-8, 230lb, PF, from Pine View High, in the St. George area (I believe DJ Stryde fame).

The thing about Rex, which is nice, is that he brings toughness. He may not get a lot of mins, but the ones he will get, he will make the most of them. He will really push our bigs in practice and help our younger guys develop. Couple of positives he will immediately bring, those intangibles the team is losing with Mahoney's departure will be somewhat made up through Rex. He doesn't shoot a lot but when he does he has a decent percentage, he is a scrappy player, and knows how to fight for rebounds. He is an above average defender and was the second leading shot blocker behind SUU bound Jayson Cheeseman (Augistin Ambrosino, BYU, also played for SLCC last year and at 6-10 didn't have 1 blocked shot for the Bruin, Bengalhaters alma mata, along with former USU player Skyler Halford). Rex, for a preferred walkon, is a great late addition. It never hurt having a couple of extra bigs. Rahe always says, he will only take Bigs that have a chance to improve and play. He doesn't take too many projects; especially guys who are JR and RMs.
