Interesting that we have two open weeks. I wonder what happened to the gossip about adding a game in week 2? The extra week of prep should help for the road game at UC Davis.

I updated forestgreen's post

So what do you all think of that early 3 game spread??? Looks tough, we expecting to come out 2-1? 1-2? hopefully not 0-3. 3-0 is possible but a stretch.

I not really sure what my post looked like, but I'm sure it wasn't as nice. The only thing I don't really like is the two open dates, but you didn't have anything to do with that. Great job, as usual.

Looking ahead to next year, as of now not counting any future FBS transfers I'd say the 08' season may turn out like the below, what do you all think will happen?

Aug. 30 WESTERN OREGON W
Sept. 6 Open
Sept. 13 @UC Davis L
Sept. 20 @Washington State L
Sept. 27 @Sacramento State W
Oct. 4 Eastern Washington W
Oct. 11 @Northern Arizona L
Oct. 18 Open
Oct. 25 Idaho State W
Nov. 1 @Weber State L
Nov. 8 Montana W
Nov. 15 @Montana State L
Nov. 22 Northern Colorado W

6-5 (5-3)

I think that's fair, although I'll hold out hope for win against Davis. If we'd been healthy last year, I think we may've won, and even though Davis was young, I don't think they'll be that much better this year.

I don't think we can underestimate the value of a healthy All-American FB.

New turf is being installed in Bozeman. We've struggled there due to conditions and I think the new turf will help quite a bit for us versus MSU.

About time, we aren't the only team that has complained about that....

I would not discount our game either as being a win for you guys. We should have won the game. That loss still sticks out to me as the one that got away from us in 2007. It should be a great game this year and our offense has a year of experience, plus we just got Bethel-Thompson from UCLA at QB. Our coach has a very good history at developing QB's.

True, we barely won the last time we were in Sacramento also, it will be interesting. I think we have the talent edge, but CSUS has the experience over us.

Portland State should make a big push this year in the Big Sky. I really think that teams like PSU, Eastern Washington and Northern Arizona could win the conference in the next year or two. The main thing that UM brings that other teams haven't figured out yet is the ability to bring a consistent effort week in and week out.

Your team should be healthy this as they go through the Big Sky which is a plus. Without that 12th game I think that PSU is going to have to make a run through the conference and win it because it will be hard to get an at large bid. Getting a win against UC Davis could prove huge.

MSU won't have any players left after playing K State and Minnesota in back to back weeks so they may be out of the race early.

I really think that the Big Sky will be one of the top conferences in the nation as the young quarterbacks that are in league develop.

There was an article from the MSU AD that basically said that it is hard to find the right fit when it comes to scheduling. From what I read it is hard for MSU to find an opponent at the FCS level that wants to come to MSU without scheduling a return game especially since MSU is trying to schedule as many home games as possible to raise money for stadium improvements.

The K State game kind of fell into our lap. I'm not sure of all the details but it had a lot to do with Fresno State getting a chance to play 2 nationally televised games and rescheduling with UCLA and Rutgers. Either way K State cancelled its game with Fresno State and MSU got picked in its place. The other two games that MSU plays OOC will not qualify as quality wins towards the playoffs.

UM is probably one of the few programs that generates enough money to schedule whoever they like. At least they did a better job this year versus the cupcake schedule for last year.

If our conference was back east and travel costs weren't so bad the scheduling would probably be easier.

Either way the best way to get to the playoffs is to win the conference.

That makes a lot of sense. And it explains why schools like Weber State has to play schools like Hawai'i in 2008 and Wyoming in 2009, both on the road unstead of a home game against a I-AA school.

I know it's now FCS but I can't stand that new name. It'll always be I-AA to me.

I'd even take another $$$ game against an FBS school, since I don't think we have a chance at the playoffs this year anyway. Normally I'm opposed to multiple FBS games, but in this season, I'd take it.
