• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

2009 FCS Football Simulation

Hi, I have a small sports simulation website that generates a box score and player stats for most sports. I've just recently added FCS teams for 2009. Here is a sample game.

Hit play again for a different result each time. Users can also play in tournaments, seasons and leagues, as well editing rosters and teams.

If anyone wants their teams full season set up let me know, I'll create a link like this one below. (South Dakota St). (it takes 10-20 seconds to load the first time, but it's worth the wait). you can also just hit refresh on your brower to run it over and over again after the inital loading, or advance to the playoffs. You can choose your format for games and teams.

You can also view the stats from each individual game using this feature.

I thought some may be interested. thanks for taking a look.

This was cool. I ran some simulations for the rest of the season:

WSU v UNC (with UNC as the home team).
WSU is projected to win 24 of 25 matchups (96% winning probability)
Projected score is WSU 26 and UNC 15

Against montana with montana as the home team, um is predicted to win 19 of 25 games (76% probability of winning)
Projected score WSU 20 and um 26

Just for fun, I changed this and put Weber as the home team and it is closer with um projected to win 15 of 25 games (60%).
Projected score WSU 21 and um 24

WSU v UNA
WSU would win 17 of 25 matchups (68%)
Score would be 27 to 22 for Weber.

WSU v CAL Poly SLO
WSU would win 20 of 25 matchups (80%)
Score would be 25 to 20 for Weber.

I wish I could read about the methodology and which statistics are used to predict these scores and outcomes. If WSU shows up and plays hard on Saturday, they should win.
The um game is much harder to predict - Weber has a chance, but they must play their best game in order to do so. All of this is fun to look at, but doesn't mean anything if you don't play hard.

Waldo, Teams are ranked based on won/loss, strength of schedule, and pF/pa, for the most part. That initial ranking along with a random component help give the different outcomes. Just as if teams played multiple times.

I've also added a 16 team FCS Playoff tournament Simulation (Scores only) . Each time you hit play again it will run the entire tournament again.

based on information and seeds from

http://www.championshipsubdivision.com/2009/10/21/playoff-predictions-1021/

I can add the same tournament with box score and player stats for the teams if anyone is interested. It takes 15-20 seconds to load the first time but loads instantly after that.

I've just added Div 1AA teams from 1983-1999. They have generic rosters but the teams are ranked based on w/l record and strength of schedule. If anyone has a link to accurate team and player stats I can make these teams more realistic. Customizing offensive player stats, and pass/run ratio's as well.

I've also updated the 2009 teams based on last week's results, here is a sample game from this week. Weber St at Montana

I'm in the process of adding the rest of the years missing from, 2000-2003, and once I find better info I'll add 1978-1982.

Any links to accurate team or player stats would be great for some of the past teams. I believe I can get 2009-2004 on espn.com, I'm just looking for info before that.
