2009 Losses

Did the Cats lose to many players from the 09 team to make a run at the 2010 Big Sky Championship?

A lot of Big Sky fans believe that Weber lost to much for the Cats to adequately compete for the conference crown. There is a part of me that is starting to listen to these supposed experts. What do you all think? Does Weber have enough depth to compete in the Sky, or is Weber in the midst of a rebuilding year?

Key Loses: Toone, Hadley, Smith, Mutcher, Wilcox, Molifua, Morris, and Bo Bolen (mission).

I believe we will be able to make a run at the Championship. Coming into the 2009 season we only had 3 returning defensives starters, and our defense did decent. What I think might hurt us on the defensive side is that we don't have any big boys at the d-tackle spot. That looked to be a problem last year, granted we had two true freshman starting last season. Adam White will have made huge improvements from last year and will be able to help hold done the line, but we really need a big boy in there like we had in 2008 with Derrick Johnson and Bryce Scanlon. With almost all the secondary returning, minus Morris and Hadley, they should be able to hold there own. The linebackers should be solid, we just need a good strong side backer to step up.

On the offensive side it all comes down to how good the O-line will be. Losing Cruz, Molifua, and Mutcher in the O-line will need to rebuild. If the O-line is solid the offensive will be solid. We have good receivers coming back minus Toone, and we have a lot of running backs so hopefully one will step up. And if Higgins takes control of the offensive like we all know he can do he will be unstoppable.

Im not all too sure how good Weber will be this year, Im predicting 4th or better, I dont think we lost that much to be considered so bad, As long as Mac is our coach Weber will be a threat to the rest of the Big Sky.
We still have Higgins, if he keeps his cool, we'll have the pass threat, we picked up the #1 running back in the state of Utah, and Weber always seems to have good running backs, and Weber usually has a good decent defense. Mac got all the recruits he wanted now LETS USE THEM. GO WILDCATS

Im predicting a 6-1 start for Weber, and Im also predicting that Weber will lose at least 2 games this year.

Predictions don't mean a thing, but here's my 2 cents. WSU will challenge for BSC title. They will go into their game against UM 6-1 or possibly 7-0 then go on the road and beat the perpetually overrated Bobcats. Honestly, they're just plain bad. That offense was the worse I saw all last year and the year before. Yeah, we lost to them last year but, it took the worse performance of the last two years by our guys to allow them to squeak out a win. Then we go to an NAU who hasn't won a game against a quality opponent in... a long time. Eastern Wash is touting a transfer QB who got beat out by a true freshman, but I still believe they will be tough... PSU, ISU,SAC, UNC will not be in the running. Okay maybe SAC has a decent year. WSU @ SAC in early Sept. will be a defining moment for WSU just like it was in 2008.

I heard that Nakamura could still possibly get his year back. What is the chance of that actually happening? Its not right when the Utah running back, I could care less about him or the Mutes, will be a 7th year senior, and a guy from Weber gets passed over by the NCAA quickly. You'd think the NCAA would be more willing to give a guy who might never play the game again, a chance to prove himself. For a kid that has worked as hard as he has, he really deserves another year. Also, it wouldn't hurt having one of the best TE's in school history back on the field. I have my fingers crossed for him. He deserves better than what he has gotten.

If Nak gets his year back think about the depth at the WR/TE positions (even if he doesn't, they will still be solid). YIKES!! With a Tailback like Vai and the finese of Booker, I really think Weber will have, by far, the most dangerous offense in the Sky. Yes, I know a lot depends on the line, but I've heard that Weber will have a big, talented, yet youngish line. What about the two Timeteo's? Will the younger one be as good as the elder one? If he is, Weber will have three excellent Lineman in the middle. Also, I've heard that Weber will be starting a 6-7 340lbs Tackle...If he's a tackle, he must really be able to move.

Ive seen the big tackle's highlight film. Big and strong, crushes guys on the wash blocks. its on youtube look for Turrubiates. I heard the new Timoteo came in pretty outa shape, but at least he's in Ogden working out now. I figure its going to take from now through camp to get him ready to compete for some PT. He is also on youtube; look for Jiniki Timoteo. Pretty awesome video. He's one of those kids whos built like a tank. Big head, no neck, broad shoulders big ole forearms and hands, super thick thighs, tree trunk calves. legit 6'3". He'll be a stud.
