2009 PSU Predictions

Reading all the latest pre-season magazines got me thinking, what do you all see coming from the 2009 Viking football team? This will be Jerry's 3rd year as the HC, will he finally make it happen? Or are we looking at the same old story? Post away...

2009 Schedule

@Oregon State
Southern Oregon
@Montana *
Weber State *
Sacramento State *
@Northern Colorado *
Northern Arizona *
UC Davis
@Eastern Washington *#
Montana State *
@Idaho State *

* = Conference Play
# = Played at Qwest Field

Just at a quick glance, I'm saying anywhere from 4-7 to 6-5.

You realise, Forest, this is far more up in the air than your ordinary program. We still don't have an OC!! For all we know, Glanville will be both OC and DC. All we've got are rumors about Pflugrad and Willamette. Not a comfortable place to be in, two months out of the season opener.

It's hard to predict what you think is going to happen, not what you hope happens.

I say we go 1-3 in September, then things start clicking. The complete Viks homer in me says we end up going 7-4.

We are going to open up 1 - 2. Then run the table. This team will improve every week. Glanville has it all under control, even the OC situation. The team is working out like never before and they are talented and hungry. These new players come from winning programs and have a great group of coaches teaching them. The team is bigger, faster, stronger, and more talented at every position. Experience is the X factor. Go Vikings! 9-2 is possible.

Bartender, I'll have what he's having. :-)

I'd love to see your prediction come to fruition.

This article has the Viks finishing in 6th place in the Big Sky. One hopeful comment in the article was, "And could a dark horse team like Sacramento State or Portland State make a surprising run?" That's why we play the games on the field! Although I agree that Montana and Weber St are the safe bets.

Around FCS: Can Weber State stop Montana's streak?

How easy is it to pick the favorite year after boring year. I'd rather be optimistic than fatalistic. Go Vikings. Maybe a lot of support might make a difference.I'll be there every game, and I expect victory after victory. I'm not drnking anything until we kick some butt. I'll be at Kingston's before and after every game. Will you? Sportswriters suck anyways. Vikings RULE!

He picks EWU to finish third this year, but I'm just not buying it considering the way they played last year and that fact that they've had off field distractions.

Vikings are picked to place 6th.

Let's show them how wrong they are!

Another example of the incredible lack of thought that goes into these articles. They make me laugh out loud. Let all the readers, and..... they are fewer by the day, believe whatever they want. I would line my birdcage with the article but I'd have to buy a copy first. That would piss my bird off. We are gonna play our toughest opponent right out of the gate on the road and that is by design. The team will have begun the tempering process. With each subsequent game the players will gain experience and confidence. We are big, fast, young, hungry, talented, used to winning (look at the player bios), and that bodes well for the future. You don't want to miss out on being a big time supporter of this football team from this point on. Go Vikings!

Beseda's Picks:

Better than 4-7, but not what we all want.

Are you kidding?! After the last two seasons, I'd be thrilled with 6-5 and 5-3 in conference.

The offseason tends to skew my perception of reality. ;-)

Logic says 6-5 would be a good season, my brain is telling me that we are currently tied for first place in the Big Sky Conference.

I won't say thrilled, but I'd also be happy with a winning record. I'd like to see them win at least 2 of 3 at home against Northern Arizona, UC-Davis and Montana State. If they can do that, I'd be okay with dropping the Eastern game.
