Portland State's schedule so far.

Sept 5th- @ Oregon State
Sept 12th- open
Sept 19th- @ Montana
Sept 26th- Weber State
Oct 3rd- Sacramento State
Oct 10th- @ Northern Colorado
Oct 17th- Northern Arizona
Oct 24th- open
Oct 31st- @ Eastern Washington
Nov 7th- Montana State
Nov 14th- @ Idaho State
Nov 21st- open

It just so happens that Cal Poly has both Sept. 12th and Oct. 24th open. I am not saying...........I am just saying.

Cal Poly plays Ohio on sept 12th, and Weber State on Nov 21st

I do not know where you get your info, but Cal Poly plays Ohio University on Sept. 19th. Rumor is that Cal Poly will now play Sac State at home on Sept. 12th. We still have Oct. 24th open. What do you say Viking fans?

My source is http://schedules.travisliles.com

Click on the Great West Logo and it will show you the schedules for all the Great West teams.

CP's schedule as of this website

Sept 5th- Northwestern State
Sept 12th- @ Ohio
Sept 19th- Western Oregon
Sept 26th- @ San Jose State
Oct 3rd- South Dakota State
Oct 10th- @ Montana
Oct 17th- Southern Utah
Oct 24th- BYE
OCt 31st- @ North Dakota
Nov 7th- @ UC Davis
Nov 14th- South Dakota
Nov 21st- @ Weber State

Teams are only allowed to schedule 11 games this year, so since CP has 11 games allready, it would be impossible for PSU and CP to play this season, but Im sure it wont be long till you see those 2 teams facing off.
Travis had Ohio as a confirmed game with a guess on the date. Ohio University is on Sept. 19th. Western Oregon is not a confirmed game. One of Cal Poly's home games that Travis has listed has been bought out by the school so they can play an FBS game.

They are playing 2 of them, Ohio and San Jose State, or are they planning on playing 3?

Cal Poly is only playing Ohio University and San Jose State. What I meant was one of the teams that was scheduled to play Cal Poly in SLO bought out the contract so they could play an FBS game.

At the top of each page on my schedule site is chart showing what each color means. The orangish color are the only confirmed games and dates but even those are subject to change.

Travis, you do a great job with your schedule page and it is much appreciated. Thanks for all the hard work.

Cal Poly would be a great matchup, there are very few remaining players from the Walsh era on PSU's squad, it would be a reality shock to Tim Walsh on how much has changed.

I don't know what to expect from Cal Poly on the field, I'm sure they will be strong as usual. With that said, the Vikings might want to shy away from this game if we can't get it together. Just think....the schedule could look like this for September....

September 5th @Oregon State
September 12th @Cal Poly
September 19th@Montana
September 26th Weber State

Rumor has is that Sac State is traveling to SLO on Sept. 12th to play Cal Poly. If that is true, that would mean that if Cal Poly and Portland State were to play next season it would be on Oct. 24th.

Cal Poly will be extremely young at the offensive skill positions. They graduate their two starting WRs, two starting RB, two starting OL and their starting QB. They have some talented young players to replace them, but they are short on experience. On defense Cal Poly return 8 starters from 2008.

If Sac is going to CP on the 12th, and Ohio was moved to the 19th, then Portland State and Cal Poly wont be able to play till 2010.

Teams are only allowed 11 games this year.

Cal Poly only has 9 games under contract for 2009. Sac State would make 10 games. Cal Poly had 10 games under contract until a team bought out of their contract leaving Cal Poly with only 9 games. I am hoping that Sac State will be 10 and Portland State will be 11.

some schools are announcing dates for 2010 and beyond already... beggining next week I will start putting together those pages as well... they'll be pretty empty for now, but they'll be there.

Cal Poly has an open date that matches an open date for Portland State and both teams do not have 11 games scheduled yet. This is a game that could happen if both schools wanted it. Problem is Portland State wants no part of it. It is a shame. I would think that this is a game both fans would want.

Maybe when Jerry has PSU in the top half of the Big Sky he might decide that this is a game he wants. Until then, and maybe not even then, we are not going to see Cal Poly and Portland State play in the regular season.

Knock, knock....anyone home????

I think that it is a shame that Portland State wants no part of a game with Cal Poly. I think it is a natural with Tim Walsh now at Cal Poly. I would think that it would create interest at both schools. Could it be that the powers to be at PSU do not want their new coach being beat by their old coach?

People here are slightly distracted with pushing the University of #!#$@! Montana from second place in basketball, so excuse the silence... ;)

I think a game between PSU and Cal Poly would be exciting but doesn't make much sense from PSU's AD right now. Walsh has a reputation of reliability and boring victories at PSU, whereas Glanville is famous for losing in spectacular manners. ;) Glanville has a difficult job at PSU and is turning the program into a whole new direction. Playing Walsh right now would mean looking at a time when we need to concentrate on the future.

There will most likely be a game between these 2 schools somewhere in the near future
I hope so. I wanted to see this game before Walsh came to Cal Poly. Now it is really an interesting game that I think would be a big draw for both schools.

Best of luck to PSU in 2009. Maybe we can meet up in the playoffs.

I would not be surprised at PSU and UC Davis playing October 24. That's about the only logical pairing left in the West.

I think it makes sense for PSU and UC Davis to continue playing every year. It builds up a rivalry and the travel costs aren't so bad.
