surprisingly light on OL thus far. Austin may start out right away. Couple of tight ends - haven't seen that in a while. Two QBs - ample, given the load we carry now. Some solid DBs. I'd say we have enough now to play even with the Big Sky.

I like this:

'Meyrick said he committed to PSU on Jan. 5. And the next day, he also got a phone call from Montana, asking him to reconsider.

"I told them I'd given a verbal commitment and they were kind of upset about that," Meyrick said. "They were a little rude, but ... it's no big deal.'

This was the part that I loved:

"Portland State has always been my top choice," Meyrick said. "Both my parents went to Portland State and my sister is there now, so that was part of it. I love the campus, I love Portland, and I wanted to stay a little closer to home."

We need more kids growing up and dreaming of being Vikings.

Hey, You guys picked up the best JC safety in the west. Manoa Latu will come in and make a huge impact, I guarantee it. He can run and tackle as good as anyone playing. He can play the whip or a rover as well. Very, very big get for PSU. Congrats. I just got off the phone with Ron McBride and cursed him out for not picking this kid up.

Wowza, possible that Shaw may come as well.

Not that I don't want to see Shead doing some punt return, but Shaw could fill in there as well.

Wiley lands last-minute offer

http://www.dailybreeze.com/sports/ci_15946579

Narbonne receiver C.J. Wiley, perhaps the Gauchos' biggest playmaker last season, has accepted a scholarship to play at Portland State and will go there this fall.

Wiley caught both overtime touchdowns in Narbonne's victory over Orange Lutheran last season and the decisive touchdown in an L.A. City Section semifinal win over Carson to help the Gauchos return to the City final.

Narbonne coach Manuel Douglas said Wiley needed to finish some classes and re-take a test.

"When you see his highlight film and his YouTube plays, you know he's legit," Douglas said. "But finishing so late, it comes down to who had offers left, who had guys who did not pan out. A lot of (schools) wanted him, but did not want to dip into next year's scholarships.

"Portland will be a good thing for him. We're proud of him, and we're hoping for the best for him."
