Looks like they have us 4th to start off...seems fair. I think we need to be able to knock off one of the top 3 to make the playoffs.

Thoughts?

seems reasonable; no reason that the Hornets can't finish above one or both of the Montana's. I think the real key to the season are the two games following Oregon State. Southern Utah is pretty good. They gave EWU a real run last year in Cheney, and they are tough to beat at home. Weber seems like they should be better, and that's a tough venue, especially after 2 road games to start the season. you might be able to afford one loss there, but, certainly not two, especially with the Montana's looming.

5 of the first 6 games are on the road. That is going to be tough. I also agree with DM that the Hornets need to get out of the gates fast. The Hornets will be facing a must win scenario in weeks 2 and 3 if this team wants to see the playoffs.

SUU has QB Sorenson returning, but all of his playmaking WR’s graduated. They do return a lot of starters on the OL.

WSU is in a similar position. They lose all of their playmaking and talented WR’s from last season and I believe they lost a few from the backfield as well. Plus they graduated QB Higgins who was a huge part of their offense the past few seasons. However WSU will have the best OL in the BSC this season.

Both games are tough road games following the opener at Pac-12 Oregon State. There will be a razor thin margin of error next season as the Hornet need to win these games to get to the playoffs.

Sorenson is very, very good. they lost Poots who was a real player, but they had a host of receivers that got open, made catches and got yards after catches. Their OL was big and 'mature' -> the mormon redshirt has really helped them. defensively they were not great, so it could be a shoot-out in Zion country.

Their top 3 WR's graduated.

thanks for the info, SD....i didn't realize they got hit that badly at the WR position. they have really made strides the past couple years in their recruiting, especially in Utah, and its showing. getting them early, before they get their passing game in high gear, should be a real help to the Hornets.

The preview states that RB Bo Bolen will be back for Weber. Bolen left for a mission and won't return this year. Josh Booker should get the start at RB. He rushed 91 times last season for 550 yards. He's young (So.) and talented but has had some troubles holding onto the football.
