We know Garrity and McKinney will get the nod in the back court. Everything else is anyone’s guess. I’m thinking Rada will be first off the bench to rotate into the back court. Barlett saw limited action last season and I don’t think that changes much this season. Groom is a garbage time player and Jackson is a walk-on redshirt.

Katz hyped up Demps in that interview so I have him pegged as the favorite to start at the 3. I also think newcomers Mills and Hornsby will also get a fair look here as well. Whoever can step up and show they can contribute will probably earn the starting role, otherwise Kats will probably platoon these players throughout the season.

I listed Salley as the 4 starter, mainly in hopes that he can turn a corner and build off of some of what we saw last season. I think Tiffin can just as easily get the nod but I expect both of them to see the bulk of the action here. It remains to be seen what Tiffin will bring to this team. Quigley showed he can disrupt the passing lanes with his long reach but had zero ball handling skills and no scoring ability; I don’t consider him a player that will get significant time.

I am thinking Stuteville gets thrown into the fire early and hopefully he can prove he belongs in the fray. My guess is Katz platoons Stuteville and Okwud and both players see plenty of action. It’s a total question mark as to how these players will perform this season.

I think there will be plenty of changes and different lineups in the front court early in the season. If a few players can step up I think the Hornets can have a respectable season. I love McKinney and Garrity but I don’t see those guys carrying this team all season long if it comes to that.

Since it's an exhibition there could be some strange combos but I'll give it a shot. The backcourt is no mystery with Garrity and McKinney but the front court is a different animal. I think Mills is going to start with Tiffin in the middle. Demps or Hornsby get the start at 3 with the other being the first off the bench. I like Demps's energy off the bench but it could go either way. Salley will be the first big off the bench with Quigley not far behind. Again, since it's an exhibition I think Stuteville will get 10 to 15 minutes. Rada and Barlett I hope see enough time to show some firepower but it's going to be tough to get many minutes behind Dylan and Mikh. Mills may prove to be the best shooter on this team, don't be surprised. Exhibitions don't usually show you much that will translate to the regular season anyway. Lookin forward to Friday.

On the coaches conference call today, Katz did confirm that Cody Demps would be starting at the 3 spot, so that is one mystery solved... I specifically asked him about Stuteville and his game... he said that Stuteville will be a very good player in the league, but he didn't know when. If I had to guess though, he'll get the nod at the 5. I'd say your starting lineup looks about right SD!

Of COURSE SD is on the $$. Out of all of us, he's the one with the best brains, jon, and he actually puts it to work. The results are his amazing previews and reviews for football and men's hoops. I tried it a time or two with women's hoops (and over on one of my other sites, which shall remain nameless for fear of endless ridicule from the peanut gallery ;-) ), and gave it up rather quickly due to the boatloads of hard work. This is why, agree or disagree, we love SD around here....

I am very familiar with his work, that is for sure! He is a great resource for Hornets basketball!

Thanks jon. What is this ref issue discussed on the call? Sounds like refs across the NCAA will be calling a tighter game? This is news to me.
