PG: Jordan Richardson*
SG: Gelaun Wheelwright
SF: Davion Berry*
PF: Joel Bolomboy
C: Kyle Tresnak*

* = A lock

What are your predictions?
Do any of our redshirts or new recruits have a chance to crack the starting 5?

Kyndahl Hill is the real deal. Wouldn't be shocked if he stepped into Mook's role. Royce Williams could challenge Gelaun, as well.

PG - J Rich
SG - Berry
SF- Kendyl Hill
PF - Bolomboy
C - Tres

Sorry I don't think Gelaun is ever going to get in control. My new favorite thing to do is look at coach after Wheelwright makes stupid plays.

Now that the season is officially over we can look to next year. First off what a hell of a year. Sucks we lost last night, but what a great game and atmosphere. That was awesome. I hope people remember how awesome it was last night and come to the games next year. Weber is poised to be very good again next year with the guys we have coming back. Its very exciting!!!! I want to shout out to Mook and Bam. They played their asses off last night and left it all on the floor. You cant ask for more out of those 2. We will miss them dearly and not just in a basketball sense. Great guys, teammates, leaders, etc.

Now on to next year. Who comes back? Who doesn't come back? Who will start? Who will be the first off the bench? Your guess is as good as mine. Here is I see it now, but come November Im sure it will be different.
PG Richardson
SG Wheels
SF Berry
PF Bolomboy
C Tres

The 4 guys off the bench. (Usually in a game 8-9 guys even play) Fulton, Hyake, Williams and Zaid are my top 4. Not sure where Bradford fits in the team next year and I hear great things about Hill, but he will be a Freshman and I just know know. He could end up starting for all I know. I really hope the 2 high school kids can redshirt and then you have Fuller coming off his mission. Who knows where he fits in too? Lots of questions, but Weber has lots of options and lots of talent. The other teams in the Big Sky even Montana don't have this kind of depth. Its a good problem to have.

What I want to see as far as player development.
Wheelwright has to stop forcing things and be a more consistant outside shooter. He has tons of talent, but seems out of control at times. He can be a all confernce type of player. I hope he works his butt off in the off season. I believe he will.

Bolomboy needs to hit the weights. 10-15 pounds of upper body strenght would do him great. He needs to work on his post moves and passing, but that will come. He is a Freshman and if he can improve in that next year he will be an all conference canidate.

Hyack needs to work with Tres on his post moves. He seems to be really close to being as good as Tres, but not quite.

Fulton is kind of a mystery to me. He was Freshan of the year and this year he barely saw the floor. He can help us big time. He needs to be in better shape. Not many PFs in the league can shoot from outside like him. I would love to see him come off the bench next year and average about 8-9 points per game.

The other guys ie. Williams, Bradford. Just get better and more comfortable in the system. I wish I could watch a practice to see how good Zaid and Hill are so I have no idea what to say on them. Anyway great fun season. There were ups and downs, but the ups were greater than the downs. :) Pround of this team. Cant wait till November. WEBER STATE WEBER STATE GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!!!!!

I don't know if any of the freshmen will win starting positions, but I think that they have the potential. On the guard line, the competition will be intense, as usual. Senglin and Gittens are the real deal. Are they mature enough to be Starters? Time will tell. Fuller and Fulton will battle it out for backup minutes behind Bolomboy at PF. Hill will battle for minutes at SF and PF. The most intriguing competition, to me, is between Jeremy S and Gelaun W. Also, Who will fill in at point when JR takes a rest? :twocents:

There was an interesting article in my home town's paper yesterday talking about Andy Enfield's hire at USC. It implied that the AAU program in LA has really hurt the UCLA and USC basketball programs because it is so money driven and really doesn't teach good team ball. When I read it, I couldn't help but think about Wheelwright. I think a lot of his bad habits came from being in that system, but if anyone can bring out his full potential, its Coach Rahe. I think (and hope) next year will be a better year for Wheelwright.

I heard John Feinstien talk about this article this week. You are so right. He needs to learn to play in control and make better decisions. I've pretty much given up on him being something special.

I think Hill will be a starter next year. I think Berry is quick enough to play the two. I thought about Hill last night as we were watching Kemp be unstoppable with his athletic ability.

Obviously Tresnak, Berry, and Richardson will be starting next year. You would also think Bolomboy will be as well. as for Wheelwright, he was the player I was most disappointed in this year. I really thought he would provide more off the bench. Maybe if he gets to start at the 2 that will help. He did seem to play better when he was on the floor with Richardson rather than when he was at the point with Bamforth at the 2.
I do think Berry could easily play the 2. If Hill is capable of big minutes at the 3, maybe that's where Berry will play. I don't see Williams' minutes increasing dramatically unless his defense picks up.
Clearly Hajek will get minutes off the bench in place of Tresnak. I hope that Fulton will step up to deserve minutes at the 4.
Losing Otis and Bamforth will hurt a lot, I think. Both of them performed beyond my expectations, especially over the last half of the season. Will Wheelwright, Fulton, Hill, Fuller be able to help fill the void left by our two seniors? I hope so.

Weber is losing a HUGE player in Scotty Bamforth. We are going to miss him terribly. Mook will also be greatly missed, along with his athleticism, but we have players already here and coming in that will make up for his loss. A guy that can get 9 and 5 a game...at the PF...yep, Bolomboy, Fulton, Fuller, and Hill. Also, we will have better shooters taking Mooks place. Mook was awesome around the bucket and had some killer moves, but I think Weber will still have that. How does Rahe replace a player like Scotty Bamforth? HE DOESN'T.

Gelaun is our best hope. He is better off the ball and if we all remember was pretty damn good as a freshman. He had pretty spectacular moments as a sophomore, but he is NOT a PG. I think he will be better with more time under his belt and starting games. He is a starter now, and needs to act like it. He needs some maturity, but I'm thinking he will get there. Duce, Senglin, and Williams are other options and will play some next year; especially Senglin. I keep hearing great things about him. Gittens will, in all likelihood, redshirt next year. Fuller can't...unless he was a grayshirt before his mission, he already used his RS.

Weber really needs Gelaun and Bolomboy to take their games to the next level. Also, it would be really nice seeing Hill continue to improve along with the other starters. I think Berry will come back far better next fall and Rich/Tres will be ready to go next fall. I'm excited for our team, but I don't think we will be better. Weber will be about the same.

I think the board is a bit hard on Wheelwright. He was asked to play a new position this year at PG and run the team a lot of the time. It was an obviously difficult adjustment and his game suffered, especially at the start of the year. I don't have TO % percentage for the first 18 games and then the last 18 games, but I believe they went down steadily as the season progressed. I really thought his overall game improved and so did his aggressiveness to the basket as he gained confidence (which was the thing that made him so spectacular as a freshman). He was on the court for a lot of finishes and he is a terrific defender. Rahe asked him to really step up his ability to contribute in two roles and I think his game grew a lot. He may not be a PG, but he is a lot better at it now than he was when the season started, and that will help him transition more easily in our guard line rotations next year.

I was thinking the same thing. Gelaun had some decent performances and there were times where he was a huge liability. Especially with a WSU-caliber team, there's no reason to think good things cant happen between his Soph and Jr years. I sure hope Randy can work the talent into productive consistency.

I see Bolomboy starting and as mentioned earlier, he needs to live in the weight room. I am really hoping Hill is good enough to demand starter's minutes. Bam will be impossible to replace and I see the needs of the team shifting slightly next season to a little less dependence on the 3PT line and a little more on the wings and slashing in the paint. I don't see the Tres-Hajek comparison earlier, even in the slightest. I'd love for Hajek to come on strong and be a solid contributor but I'm having a real difficult time seeing it. Even though Mook might have rarely been the quickest or most athletic guy on the floor, defensively he is going to be tough to replace. He came on so strong offensively this year but watching him on the defensive end made me realize how much more difficult it's going to be without him next year.

I don't see an issue at PF. Not in the least. We are deep enough that whom ever is in there can be very aggressive, on both ends of the floor. It may be true that none of them have the skill set that Mook has, but as a group, and with the depth, I think it is a push.

To me, the questions that will need to be addressed are: Will Senglin be able to play at the point and will Hill be able to earn playing time at SF? I am hoping that the answer to both questions is yes. We already know what we can get from Berry and Wheelright. The center position is set in stone.

There is also a chance that another player could be signed next week. That could open up a few more questions.

If you know that the coaches are looking to sign someone, why not tell us who that person is? :dunce:

The coaches aren't allowed to give any detailed information on who they are recruiting until after they have signed a LOI. The only thing I know is that they are looking at bringing someone in this spring. Either a D1 transfer, who would sit out a year, or a HS player. They simply have not shut the door on anything yet. It is also possible that nothing will happen this spring. These things are never set in stone until after the spring signing periiod. Sometimes, things can happen in the summer, and we don't hear about it until fall. It's a little frustrating, as a fan, but until a player is enrolled and attending classes, we are never really sure. The coaches are always looking for the next star. That never stops. :coffee:
