Can Gittens play the SG and Hill play SF? If so I like
Senglin
Gittens
Hill
Blomboy
Braxton

How about that Jefferson we recruited?

I see Braxton starting at Center before the end of the season and anchoring the position for 4 years. He's good right now, but his upside is scary!

I voted for Braxton because I am hoping that he will be able to come in and win the position. If he isn't able to get that done, then I am reasonably sure that Joel gets the nod.

hard to imagine that the following 4 don't start next year: Senglin, Gittens, Hill, and Bolomboy. Only question for me is whether Gittens is at the 3 or the 2. Does Gittens play the 2 and does Williams start the season in the starting line-up at the 3?

I don't think there are ever any 'sure' starters. Of those mentioned, Senglin and Bolomboy are the most likely to start. Hill and Gittens may start but there will be some real competition. Some of our incoming players could come in and win a spot or two. To me, the real question will be at the center and point guard spots. Everything else will fall into place once those things are worked out. :twocents:

Just gotta throw this out there...Hill picked Weber or Utah State because Rahe told him he would eventually play at the 3. Stew was determined to play Hill at the 4. If Hill is the 3 next year, which could happen, he needs to get a lot quicker, then who is our 4? Out of all our bigs the only one that could see becoming a decent 3 is Fuller. He has a very similar game to Bull's game, but Fuller is quicker and a better shooter. Yes, I could see Hill making the transition; possibly. Yet, his game seems better suited for the 4. However, Rahe is a man of his word. I wouldn't doubt seeing Hill get the chance, and we might be far better for it too...when he succeeds.

I don't see Joel as a good fit in the 5 in the traditional back to basket play of centers. With his athletic ability, rebounding savvy, hopeful continued growth in muscle/strength, and if his offensive skills continue to grow, he would be dangerous as a slashing 4 man. I think Hajek or Braxton is more likely to play the 5, especially if they can pass out of the post.

If Rahe keeps Joel at the 4 and James is unable to play much. I could see Van Pelt getting a starting nod in the beginning of the year since he has a year under his belt in the system and we know the toughness of Ryan when he was on the scout team. But this is just pure speculation and anything could happen by the time October rolls around.

Although I agree Joel doesn't seem like a traditional 5 offensively, I really don't see his development suggesting a "slashing 4" either. I can envision him being more of a jump-shooting 4 (ala the Mailman) and, of course, a rebounding beast with some monster put-backs, but he still just does not look comfortable handling the ball. Not really knowing what Brax will be capable of with this team, I'm still thinking 5 for him and hopefully Hajek can produce there too. It would be good if James could be somewhat of a rim protector without getting into foul trouble. I don't think he'll carry any kind of offensive load, though.

I don't know that you would want Joel too far away from rebounds but in some situations could he be a stretch 4, creating some isolation for Braxton? Is Braxton athletic enough to cause some match-up problems? Wait, never mind, Weber rarely sees man.

I don't know who might start at center. However, I do know this is the most depth we have had at center in Randy's tenure. The competition and added depth will make us better at that position and better as a team next year. :thumb: :thumb:
