we all know joe strand is gonna put his 2 cents in and make it something that will be appealing to the other older generation that go to the game. lets face it we will be stuck with black beauty or something like it for years to come. no joker, no welcome home ever.

I get what you are saying, but until students actually show up in numbers, Joe really has to cater to the fans who are actually coming to the games. He really doesn't have any other choice. Gotta placate those fans willing to pay. Until the students actually start supporting in numbers they really can't have much of a say. 26000 students on campus and a tiny fraction attend. If 10% attended that would be 2600 at every game. I think the average was maybe 1% last year. YIKES!!

Unfortunately, I would have to be classified with the "older generation" and think the Joker should be included in every game. Young, "older", or old-- it doesn't seem to matter-- the right song(s) get the energy and excitement elevated. The "New Intro Song" works for me; it has a good energetic, catchy rhythm.

I'm one of the oldest. I love it when they play J&T and I like all of the newer, upbeat music. Really, I like anything that gets the crowd going, gets people on their feet, and keeps them coming back for more. I say, if you have something that can contribute to that, push it to Joe and get it on the agenda and into the lineup.

Maybe getting some student groups involved in the program choices will help get them coming out to the games and building new traditions. This generation of students is very important to the future of WSU basketball. We need to get more of them involved, any way that we can. :coffee:

Actually registration is again down this year so we are moving close to that 10% mark tal. If registration keeps moving down we will have no problem getting 10% of the students that are registered here to go to the games. Even if we have 20,000+ registered only 50-75% of that actually attend classes on campus. Others are going to davis or online only

Are you seriously telling me about enrollment numbers?? :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: You purplefordog!!

Last I checked, Davis and Online are still part of Weber State University. Gotta think outside the box with those options, but still marketing to students and student led involvement is pretty piss poor.

This one would be cool. It gets good after about 38 seconds.

I like that too. I like it more around the 1:20 and 2:30 marks as beginning points.

I've always loved this song, but I don't know how well the crowd can "clap" to it.

The university (and all others in the state) actually plans to see an uptake in registered students next year, once all the missionaries come home, ending that two-year dip after the LDS Church changed the missionary age to 18, re-starting the cycle of a regular student flow. They may be optimistic, but they expect enrollment to near 30k within three years.

This is true, but with the economy improving less people are seeing the need for attending college. But you are right with regard to the missionary paradigm. However, missionary enrollment numbers will not be fully "re-connected" until Spring Semester 2015 or even as late as Fall Semester 2015. No matter, so far registration has been a bit up from what it was last year at this time. Sister Missionaries are all coming back this summer. Regrettably, since Weber is an open enrollment institution, we won't see the total numbers until registration for classes ends on August 29. Thousands of students procrastinate till the very end.

WILDCAT;

Your number has a nice melody, but it doesn't grab my attention. Also, the lyrics don't seem to have a translation into a sporting event. Sounds like a good traveling song though. :twocents:
