2014-2015 Schedule

I just saw Weber released their schedule for next year. Interestingly enough they only play Portland St and Sac St at home. Amazing how the only 2 sea level teams, who will also field 2 of the strongest teams in the BSC, don't get a home game against Weber. It's good to have the conference office in your home town.

I dunno, Sac. You mean basketball? We've played WSU home and home for the last couple years. With the addition of Idaho has that changed to just one game? And if so, starting this year with only one, we may play WSU there, but the following year I'm sure it will be at PSU. If you mean football, it's been home and home forever. Or mostly so.

Basketball..........new this year......every team plays 7 teams home and home and the other 4 only once, 2 at home and 2 on the road..... every year will be different but I don't know the rotation

Why the heck are we playing Linfield, Willamette, and Walla Walla? Are we a Division I school, or not? I get playing one of these teams per year, but three is ridiculous.

Technically we're not playing Linfield since it's an exhibition, but I totally agree with you.

As far as the Big Sky schedule, I do like seeing the home and home with Idaho and us not going through Montana this season.

Please forgive my sense of overkill... and yes, it's overkill.

Sac State OOC home games (with an arena the same size as Stott and a school fairly similar to PSU):

Northern Kentucky
Eastern Oregon
Lewis-Clark State

Idaho OOC Home
Eastern Oregon
South Dakota State
Northern Kentucky
UC Davis
Walla Walla

Montana State OOC Home
Texas-Arlington
North Dakota State
South Dakota Mines
Utah Valley
Wyoming

North Dakota OOC Home
Mayville State
Dickinson State

Southern Utah
(my, what a crappy website)

Weber State OOC Home

Bristol University

LAST YEAR'S Montana OOC Home

Summary: the BEST school on anyone's home schedule is an in-state scratch-your-back favor in a 12,000-seat arena. The second best is North Dakota State. Big Sky, baby.

Hey Pounder.

Thanks for putting that together.

I read that and one glaring thing that stuck out was that UofP is going on the road to play Sacramento State?

Thanks, Pounder. Your post provides interest context, and I get that it's tough for Big Sky teams to schedule quality home games, especially when playing in an arena like Stott. However, I'd say that's a good reason to just play another quality road game.

You might get one of those a year. Thing is, the big boys kind of have to play each other to sell tickets... NCAA basketball isn't NCAA football. So the opportunities come few and far between.

I bet we could get a home-and-home with the green and white Cleveland State Vikings.

Last year's schedule: http://csuvikings.com/sports/m-baskbl/2013-14/schedule" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Last year's home attendance average: 2,236. Arena capacity: 13,610 (and, apparently, sold out once in its history).

That Beloit College survey hit today, reminding people that the kids entering college this month were born when the Macarena was a hit, were inundated going into kindergarten with images of 9/11...

...and doesn't even bother to say that they were born 10 years after Cleveland State made a splash in the NCAA tournament. Even PSU undergrads who are of average age (26 is the last report I saw) weren't born when that happened.

Didn't sanctions hit them just a couple years after?

Portland State has actually been in the tournament as many times. If you want to call that kinship, fine... but when most of the target audience says "why are you going on about Cleveland State," I just wanted to make sure you were warned.

Just posting my opinion like all the rest.

Cleveland is a city that is approximately the same magnitude as Portland in terms of population.
Cleveland State are called the Vikings too.
Cleveland State's colors are also green and white.

On the show, Family Guy, Portland was one of Joe Swanson's new friends in "Believe It or Not, Joe's Walking on Air", along with Parker and Quentin. He is Cleveland Brown's replacement and counterpart, after Brown was deemed too much of a weakling to be his friend now that Swanson had working legs again. Portland enjoys exercising and the Dave Matthews Band. It is assumed Portland and Joe broke off their friendship after Joe became paralyzed again. Portland's name, like Cleveland's, comes from an American city.

We just have a lot of things in common. There is a huge basis for a relationship and we playing one another may help each other's program.
