2014-2015 Schedule

I think its fair to say we all have WSU basketball on our minds lately... Why not, its an exciting time of year!!!

What can we expect for an OOC schedule? With the recent success (mostly at home) with the U. of Utah, do you think Hill/ Coach K. are ready for us to play again? I know many of you are anti playing the utes unless its a H/H... I personally would like to beat them home or away.... Any chance of a H/H...?

We will be playing @ UT Arlington, playing @ Utah State, home to byu, Most likely home to UVU and home to Oral Roberts, do not want to play Utah again until it is home and home. I am hoping that our Colorado State game was a H&H, but I have my doubts. Will most likely play @ a Pac 12 school as well as host a couple of pasties, and We all know we will be playing in the 2014 Paradise Jam against any one of these schools Clemson, LSU, Seton Hall, Gardner-Webb, Illinois State, Nevada or Old Dominion.

F playing the Utes unless we set up a home and home like how is was before. I have no respect for them. I cheer for BYU over them now. Sad I know!!! I love how they played a pasty OOC schedule, but suck in the PAC 12. lol.

They are doing a lot better in the PAC-12 than I thought they would. They are ranked 35 on Ken Pomoroys index, so I don't think they are sucking that bad. They are playing better this year. I still don't think we should play them, but some of our whining towards them looks like sour grapes.

They'll be very good next season. They only lose one senior, and he only plays 12 mins a game.

Home Games: UVU, BYU, Oral Roberts, and Two cupcakes (I'd like to see Westminster and Dixie State, but...)

Tourny Games: Paradise Jam 3 games (I personally want Nevada for one of the games, so that we can even our record against them).

Road: UTA, USU, Two Money games (if Utes pay the Cats $150K, I'm all for going to SL to play them as long as Jimmy Casas is left at home).

With 16 Conference games, we can expect Weber to play, at least 12 OOC games, maybe 13 or 14.

On a side note, I've heard that Weber might be playing in the 2015-16 Gossner Rendition. Also, CSU was a money game. Weber made some good cash for traveling to Ft. Collins. Too bad it was easily our worst game of the season.

18 Conference Games
3 Paradise Jam Games
5 OCC Home Games (BYU, UVU, Oral Roberts, 2 Non-D1)
3 OCC Road Games (USU, UT-Arlington, Money Game)

That's 29. Can play up to 31 because we are in an in-season tournament.

Are you sure it is 18 Conference games? I'm not doubting you...I just forgot. I really thought it was 16.

Awesome... That is right.

The Utes are tied for 7th in a very average Pac 12 conference. Even my other favorite team Wazzu beat them and Wazzu is awful. They need to fire Coach Bone. He was at Portland State before Wazzu and man has Wazzu went down the crapper since he got there. I admit the Utes are actually decent. Most of their losses have been very close. I bet if they had played a tougher OOC schedule and challenged themselves more, then maybe some of those close conference games could have been wins. Their OOC schedule was an absolute JOKE!!!!!!!! I still hate them and don't respect them at all. Its sad they wont continue the home and home series. They wont even play USU. Bunch of cowards. Sadly though they will be good next year. Probably a top half Pac 12 team. The Utes can still go suck Benglehaters nuts for all I care though. :-D

I would take the Utes in a heart beat even if it isn't a home and home. I know most don't like them and yes they played an easy schedule, but these guys are good and young. It would be a great game for us next year. This year they have actually done fairly well.
Notable Wins: BYU, UCLA, Washington, ASU, and Oregon State
Notable Losses: Boise State by 2, Oregon (ranked #10 at the time) by 2 in OT, @ASU by 4, @ Colorado in OT by 4, vs Arizona in OT last week. All teams that are either in the tourney or on the bubble.
All that with their top 7 in minutes as underclassmen pretty impressive.

I agreed they screwed us over, but I would even take a 2/1 series vs them. We have been fortunate for so long that BYU and Utah have kept a home and home series with us. Think Arizona or Arizona State gives NAU a home and home every season? Or Eastern Washington gets a home and home with Washington and Washington State every season? It's foolish of Weber to not try and play the best competion they can and if we get some money from it as a money game and still have a chance to beat Utes or BYU on their own court then great.

This is the way I see the Utah/Weber series, imagine if you will you are Weber and you have a friend Utah and you and Utah have been friends for quite some time, you grew up together and said you would be friends for life, then going into Junior High school Utah started hanging out with the "cool kids" and thier group they call the Pac 12, Utah starts hanging out with the cool kids and starts to ignore Weber and Weber gets upset, Weber tries to rekindle the friendship but now Utah wants nothing to do with Weber and breaks off all ties with Weber.

People can call it a sour grapes thing, but would you still respect your friend if he/she did this to you?

We get three games at the JAM, but they only count as one against our 31 max. We can add an additional 2 OOC games. :thumb:

The Utes have agreed to continue the series with USU. I know there was talk of legislating in-state scheduling. I think every team in the state should be required to visit every other team that plays in the same division at least every 4 years. One thing is for sure, we need to improve our schedule and so does the conference. It would be nice if the athletic department could buy a few home games a year. Why not play a few money games and use that money to get home games? It's also a shame the bracket-buster games are no longer happening. I wonder if a few conferences could get an arrangement to match their best teams late in the season.

With the money we get from one PAC12 school, we can afford to schedule several lower div. teams to play at the Dee. I think that a couple of them is plenty. We don't need a schedule like Utah's. I would like us to work out as many home n homes as we can with teams near our level. Mountain West teams should be our targets. West Coast teams are also in that category. :coffee:

But even lower division schools won't come to the Dee. How much would Weber have to pay to get a lower division I team to come to the Dee? Personally, I would rather see a really bad SWAC team than Northern New Mexico or St. Katherines College at the Dee if it means parting with $25K. Especially, if Weber were to make a contract with Utah; nothing less than $150K lol.

I've always thought the conference office should get more involved in non-conference scheduling by signing agreements with other conferences to play games. A partnership with a conference like the Big West would benefit both conferences. And why didn't the conference require something out of UC Davis and Cal Poly in exchange for allowing them to park their football program in the Big Sky? That could have been a good opportunity to force them to play 2-4 Big Sky schools a year in basketball.

I love college sports more then pro sports, but the one thing I can't stand in college sports is scheduling. College football is just as bad as college basketball. I hate how the big schools with all the money get such an advantage in scheduling. Look at Duke for example. Everyone talks about how great Coach K is and how many games he has won. Well DUHHHHHH!!! He gets the best players in the nation every year and plays a cream puff OOC schedule with all games at home. All the big schools are like that. It is what it is and I doubt anything will be done. I wish they could make scheduling more fair to all D1 schools, but it never will. Just got to look forward to the conference season and win that which is cool too. I still hate the UTES!!!
