2014 QB

Just read a story on KSL about our current QB situation. Sounds dire if you ask me. On Saturady, I wasn't able to go, but had some family at the game, and I was told that the QB situation is pretty bleak. That this team is a QB away from being fairly decent. Is there any hope that a JC QB is still available? Possibly a drop down QB from an FBS team? Any possible local connections? Thoughts?

I don't see it as bleak at all. Maybe they are not NFL quality QBs, so what? We will be a ball control, run first offense any way. We will run it down the other teams throats until they pack the box and then we will make then pay with the pass when they are not expecting it. The strength of our offense will be the O line and the RBs. Our QBs can get the job done. If our defense continues to come together, we can be a much improved team. We just might surprise some teams.

Rumors that Jake Heaps is looking to transfer from Kansas. WSU not mentioned as a potential landing spot but other BSC schools are listed, MSU, SUU, UNC. Not sure even if he can transfer down for 1 year, I thought there was a rule that basically required 2 years to eligibility to move to the FCS...

I really thought that Adam Schulz would leave the U for greener pastures here in Ogden with Coach Hill. The summer is still young, but one would think we would have heard by now if that was going to happen.

My understanding is that the only QB transfer is Green. There is supposedly a kid coming in as a preferred walkon that they like but he is a true freshman. They also have the other recruited freshman QBs. I do think there might be some other BYU kids coming over with Green but no specifics on that.

Hey mac do you know who else is suppose to transfer to Weber

To be honest I am kinda speculating on the other transfers. its just been my experience that a QB normally has one or two loyalists or friends that are looking for a change too and they decide to stick together.

Green's delivery looks on time and extremely accurate. His pocket presence and ability to quick-release across his body are what's most impressive to me. Knowing we have him competing for the starting spot makes me more optimistic about the 2014 season.

Looks like the UTube clip is from HS. I am sure he has gotten a lot better at BYU. I think they expect him to be the guy.

Coach Hill said that it is going to between Green, Clark, Leckington, and the Freshman Bradshaw. But, I agree, I think Green has the edge. Good to have Bradshaw red-shirt and then spend two seasons backing up Green before becoming the starter. They both could end up being pretty special.

I got a chance to watch a bit of today's scrimmage. Billy Green is good. He and Chad Leckington were leading the first and second team respectively. I think Clark is still injured. He pulled his hamstring. Anyway, the offense looked a bit more responsive than it did in Spring Ball. Still a ways to go, but from what I saw from Green it looked as if the team had its leader.

I completely agree. I think Green has a pretty good hold on the job as of right now.

Also, in non-QB news, keep an eye out for Darryl Denby and Zach Smith this season. Both looked good to me at scrimmage

Yes. It's Green. Coach Hill officially named him starter Saturday at the fan fest

Is there anything out there that we can read up on the fan fest?

In the Standard, KSL Sports, and the Des News.
