It's official!

TWO WILDCATS TO REDSHIRT
Coach Rahe has announced he will red shirt two players for the 2014-15 season. Rahe will red shirt freshman center Zach Braxton and freshman guard Jeremiah Jefferson. Braxton is a 6-9, 250-pound center out of Highlands Ranch, Colo. Jefferson is a 6-2, 165-pound guard out of Dallas, Texas. Both players signed with Weber State in November 2013.
“I’m really excited about the future for Zach and Jeremiah,” Rahe said. “We are fortunate to be able to red shirt them this season which will allow them to practice and be in our program. They both have extremely bright futures here at Weber State.”

This isn't exactly breaking news to anybody who has been remotely paying attention. :coffee:

He didn't say it was "breaking news," he said "it's official." I don't see the entertainment of some to be so confrontational and :stir:

There seems to be a lot of angst this month! Hopefully the mood will change with 3 wins this weekend! Going stay off the forum until January if we go 0-3!

I think that everyone is well aware of my feelings on players red shirting. In my perfect world, all freshmen would red shirt. Most traditional students take 5+ years to graduate. It just makes academic sense for athletes to have that fifth year. The 5 star guys, who are one and done, could go to JCs to get their year in. In the year that Damian sat out, his work on his game and conditioning probably made him the NBA player that he is today. I look at red shirting as a huge advantage to any player that does it. That whole adjustment year can be accomplished without burning a year of eligibility. Sometimes, teams don't have the luxury of red shirting anybody, and that is a real shame. It is such an advantage for the player who will take full advantage of it. :coffee:

When was the last time a Big Sky school redshirted two 3 star players?

Wait I forgot got that the other Big Sky schools would have to get 3 star kids to redshirt in the first place.
