SD made a good point over at CS about our having a weak schedule, though that was buoyed by the fact that UIW is officially D-I now. You get a bit of a break with that RMAC school and the unusual two byes.

SD also had a good suggestion for you guys in scheduling another D-II to get some home gate revenue. Either that or another of the cheesy in-conference OOC games to give you another chance to get up to the six (official, but not competitive) to eight (generally acceptable) D-I wins. It's not likely, though. You guys screwed the pooch royally in making the Kitties your homecoming. I think we did something similar a year or two ago, so we know how bad that is.

Thanks for chiming in, 72. We don't get much in the way of Aggie traffic over here, and you've always been the sane one. Wish the same could be said for Aggiemba....

Sometimes everyone gets carried away with the rivalry thing, especially during the season. I think you will come into the Causeway Classic in 2014 with significantly more wins than us. I wished we had Weber State, Idaho State and maybe San Diego somewhere in our schedule instead of some we got.

That is a good schedule SS. All D1, all winnable games including the payday game at NMSU, good home-road balance. Only bad thing is the bye is earlier in the season so you guys finish the regular season with 10 straight games and 7 of 12 are on the road (although 2 of them are "bus-able"). I think you guys have the best schedule for BSC teams I’ve seen so far.

Really? I would much rather have our schedule.

We have the easiest. Easiest <> Best.

I like both schedules, but think Cal Poly's gives them a little better chance to make the playoffs. All 12 games on Cal Poly's schedule are counters and we have a chance (some games more than others) in all of them. I would rather play San Diego on the road than Menlo at home because San Diego is a counter and I can still drive to San Diego to watch it.

As long as the team wins the games they are supposed to, everything will fall into place. Playing Black Hills State and Panhandle State hasn't hurt the Montana's for playoff consideration.

At this point, after eight years of suckiness, I would be giddy with an 8-4 record and no playoffs.

We have been talking for a while about not scheduling top tier FBS programs like Stanford and Oregon, it just wears us out and nobody enjoys a beat down. Our schedule is brutal, not just because of two FBS games, but also because we play the top half of the Big Sky.

Good luck this year, it would be great to have the Big Sky Conference championship come down to Causeway...hopefully one day it will happen.

All Big Sky games are tough.
Sac State has only beat Montana one time in 18 years
Maybe a Sac win over Montana State 2 times in 20 years
Cal Poly will be very tough
Southern Utah has beaten the Hornets 3 out of the 4 past meetings I believe
And UNC and ISU will view Sac State as a game that is winnable for them and be fired up at home
And Cal will likely be improved and opening up at home with all the FBS level hype and fan fare.
And the Hornets have fallen toDavis 12 out of the past 14 years.
Portland State is always tough
UIW will be llooking to continue putting itself on the FBS map by getting after a team from CA out of the Big Sky Conf. for the past 18 years.

So every year is tough for Sac State Every year the Hornets have to be at their best to win any and all games.
And the Big Sky games are set now years in advance and all schools get what they get in conference play

Nothing automatic in the Big Sky. Particularly for Sac State historically speaking. So many years of coming a few kicks away or a few yards away from a chance at the playoffs. And the teams on top of the Sky year after year win all the close ones along with more luck than most.

That all being said.

A great 2014 season for Sac State would be oh so sweet. A well prepared and disciplined team that plays hard from start to finish will make that happen.

Incarnate Word:

Having lived in the region i n the 90's, my best friend is still there, just wanted to go on record that NO ONE should count this as an easy win. My friends kids school was state champ in AR, went to TX and took on TX state champ- lost 63-6. Schools there typically focus football year around, PE is football, the HS has a film room better than some colleges, etc. This is not an easy game.

I like the schedule, but does anybody know what the payout is for the Cal game? Last year SJSU payed us 300k, so hopefully Cal will pay at least 400k. I feel we shouldnt play Pac-12 top-tier teams. ASU really hurt us last year and payed us only 450k.

Financially I don't think there is any way around not scheduling these money games. Also the Pac 12 didn't seem to hurt us in 2011 and 12.

ASU is a top-tier team and playing them affected the rest of the season, in the long run we should concentrate on filling up the stadium, which would bring up revenue.

No reason why we should not go 6-0 at home. Make all the field goals, punch the ball in when we are near the end zone and avoid the big plays once we score. DEFENSE
