2015-16 Big Sky Media and Coaches Poll

I don't see us dropping to 10th, but I could see us about 5th or 6th. I really think a lot of people are going to be surprised with the Hornets this year. We lost 4 seniors and of course 2 of the best players in Sac history but those 2 guys did many things to infuse a culture of winning in the current team. With a couple of minor surprise performances by some of the sophs and juniors, we could be a real tough team to deal with. Cody is going to start at point initially and he will bring stability to the team. If Strings, M. Stuteville or Graves step up big we can have a pretty good season. Eric and Nick will be strong in the paint so I don't see as drastic a drop-off as it seems others see. I just can't wait for them to lace them up and kick some tail..

I agree with PGP and think the Hornets will be somewhere in the middle of the pack. I like our front court, but we need to see a perimeter shooting presence to fully exploit that talent inside. With bigskybball.com going away, I have no idea how the Hornets compare with other programs in the BSC.

Did Jon give up?

I'm changing my mind....Hornets will be one of the top 3 in the conference (I don't want to go over board yet). Last night the 2 favorites, Montana and Weber both lost. Montana lost to San Jose State to give the Spartans their first DI win in over a year, and Weber lost to South Dakota State to go to 0-2 so far. EWU lost on opening night to Miss St but that is not a surprise. NAU has lost 2 games already so it looks like we are the only unbeaten BSC team with 2 DI wins. Some of my uncertainties have been at least partially answered by the great back-court play by the Hornets (Marcus has been better than anticipated and Jiday and Jeff have been great too). Cody has been as advertised even though he ran into foul trouble at Seattle. The front-court has been solid and the whole team has proved to be deeper than I can ever remember. I think we have another damn good team this year and they deserve your support. I think we should buy our tickets to the Davis game soon so we don't get over run with their supporters. I got my tix yesterday.

A long season lays ahead so I'm going to manage my expectations for this season. And yes I advise folks to get their tickets now, bought some earlier this week and it's already slim pickings for some of the games on the schedule.
