I don't know about that story about Bryant....same story says another kid signed last week with Montana. but the signing period doesn't open until the 15th of April....I don't see anything on verbalcommits about either player being even looked at by either school....I would be a bit leery of that story if I were you....

But I forgot to congratulate you on the Piniero verbal....I've seen him multiple times in HS and JC, he is a very good player and seems to be a real good kid also....I think you got a player there...good defensive player and has a good motor....needs to improve his outside shot but who doesn't???

Mountain Pointe graduate Khari Holloway has found his way to a four-year college after an impressive career at Mesa Community College.
Holloway recently signed with Portland State after being named a second-team All-American at the NJCAA Division I level.
The sophomore guard also earned was a first-team All-ACCAC and All-Region after averaging 17.2 points, 4.8 assists and 4.0 rebounds. He made 42.5 percent of his 3-point attempts and 93.1 percent of this free throws.

Like the height (7-0), but concerned about the weight (205).

Portland State men's basketball signs 7-footer Namdi Okonkwo

http://www.oregonlive.com/vikings/index.ssf/2015/05/portland_state_mens_basketball_6.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Portland State Vikings have signed 7-footer Namdi Okonkwo (NAM-dee oh-KONK-whoa) to their 2015-16 recruiting class, men's basketball coach Tyler Geving announced Monday.

A 7-foot, 205-pound center from Dallas, Okonkwo did not play high school basketball, but his play at Westwind Prep Academy in Phoenix landed him a scholarship to Western Wyoming Junior College.

Two years later, he's the sixth player in the Vikings' 2015-16 recruiting class.

"The thing we really like about Namdi is that he is only scratching the surface of how good he can be," Geving said in a statement. "He has grown leaps and bounds as a player the last few years and his upside is very good. He is going to get better every day and I think the sky is the limit for this guy."

Okonkwo averaged 8.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game during his sophomore season at Western Wyoming. He played 20.1 minutes per game and shot .541 from the field in 30 starts for the Mustangs, who went 22-10.

"Namdi's strength is obviously defensively," Geving said in the statement. "He is a very good shot blocker and moves his feet extremely well so thats a good start on the defensive end. Namdi is an explosive jumper; he gets up quick, hits the ground and gets up quick again."

Geving said he expects at least one more signing this spring. Here's a look at the Vikings' 2015-16 class so far:

NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT SIGNEE - May 18
Namdi Okonkwo, C, 7-0, 205, JR, JC, Dallas, Texas
Westwind Prep/Western Wyoming JC

Grateful for recruiting height but what a project. Yikes! Get that young man on a weight program, pronto!

He needs to gain a lot. He must be like a stick figure right now. A Manute Bol type.

Paging Voodoo Donuts. Please report to the Stott Center.

Here's some video of him. Some of the quality is pretty crappy, but a couple are alright. Looks to have a really long reach. Imagine he and Spickerman in the paint at the same time. Good luck getting a shot up on the paint that won't be blocked.

Hey, Marty, you forgot the attachment. Have to admit I'm curious about his reach.

My apologies.

Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzyFBCt9Sys" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Wow! After seeing the video, I am even more excited about this 7 ft kid...runs the court, shoots softly with BOTH hands, blocks blocks blocks shots, and he only started playing basketball three years ago? You have to be kidding me. And word on the street is he has a great attitude...open to learning, working hard and getting better. Yes, he is skinny (weren't we all at age 21??!!), but a little campus food should help him add some lbs quickly. He will be a work in progress, but the sky is the limit with this kid...mental attitude and physical gifts = combo for success. What a great get...I can't wait to see how this already strong recruiting class rounds out. Something tells me Geving and co. aren't done...what's next, coach?!

Congrats to the newest Viking!
