Barnum, Kuresa Headed To Big Sky Kickoff; Other Football News

http://www.goviks.com/news/2016/7/13/big-sky-football-kickoff-other-viking-football-news.aspx

The 2015 FCS National Coach of the Year and the 2015 Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year will represent Portland State at next week's Big Sky Conference Football Media Days. That's not too bad a start to the 2016 season for Viking football as it tries to back up its best Division I season ever.

PSU Head Coach Bruce Barnum and senior quarterback Alex Kuresa were the unquestioned leaders of that exciting 2015 season (9-3, 6-2), and will lead the team again this fall.

The Big Sky's preseason kickoff event takes place on Monday and Tuesday in Park City, UT.

Barnum and Kuresa will meet with league writers, radio and television media over the course of two days, as will the head coach and a player from every other Big Sky school. Root Sports, the home of the Big Sky Conference Game of the Week, will be on hand as well, preparing promotional material, commercials and a 2016 preview show.

The Big Sky Conference will also release its preseason All-Conference team (Monday) and preseason Coaches and Media polls (Tuesday).

The Big Sky will host a live stream each morning from Park City that fans can follow at www.eversport.tv/big-sky. Players will take part on Monday and coaches will be on Tuesday morning. Kuresa will be on live at 9:21 a.m. PT/10:21 a.m. MT on Monday. Coach Barnum's interview takes place on Tuesday
at 9:12 a.m. PT/10:12 a.m. MT. The live streams will run from 8-10 a.m. PT each day. A link to the live video streams will also be available at www.GoViks.com. Click here for Monday. Click here for Tuesday.

VIKING FOOTBALL PRACTICE
Portland State football practice is scheduled to begin on August 8 at the newly-resurfaced Stott Community Field. Actual times and dates will be released in the coming weeks. The Vikings will have scrimmages on Aug. 17 and 24 leading up to the 2016 opener against Central Washington, Sept. 3, at Providence Park.

Head Coach Bruce Barnum, beginning his second season at the helm of the Viking ship, has 46 returning letterwinners and 14 returning starters.

Season tickets are available for purchase from the Portland State Box Office, or by going online to www.GoViks.com. The PSU ticket office is located at 1825 SW Broadway on the PSU campus.
