2016 Predictions

How do you think Weber will do this year record wise? Take a look at the 2016 football schedule and make a prediction.

Here is my prediction.

@ Utah State- L. I think our defense makes the Aggies work for it, but unless our passing game improves dramatically, we wont keep up with Utah State.

@ South Dakota- W/L. I honestly think Weber has a legit shot at winning their first OOC road game since beating Cal Poly in the 2008 Playoffs. (Looking back, Cal poly is the only OOC road win for Weber in over 10 years) The Weber D will be good enough, will the offense?

Sacramento State- W. Sacramento State was arguably the worst team in the Big Sky last year, I'm not sure how much they improve over the offseason, but not enough to beat Weber in Ogden.

@ UC Davis- W. Playing in Davis will be tough, but overall talent gives Weber the edge.

Portland State- W/L. Could very well be a loss, the Vikings were probably the most talented team in the Sky last year.

Montana State- W. MSU's Offense will be good and I do think ours will be improved from last year, I give Weber the edge cause I think Weber's defense is better. I think the Cats (WILD) will win and end a very long losing streak in Ogden to MSU.

@ Southern Utah- W. The Thunderbirds wont be able to overcome the loss of all their talent and their head coach, Wildcats finally notch a W in the Civil War standings ending a 3 year drought.

@ North Dakota- L. The Hawks are gonna be one of the top teams next year, they are a lot like us, QB play is their downfall. But I think they get us this year.

Northern Arizona- L. Here is the home game Weber has the best chance at losing, NAU is legit and will be very tough to beat, even at home.

Cal Poly- W. Cats end home schedule with a win, VS a very talented Cal Ploy team, can't sleep on Poly.

@ Idaho State- W. Weber wins the Border War for the 2nd year securing a playoff bid.

8-3 With a first round home playoff game (W) 2nd round road game (L)
or
7-4 with a first round road loss in the playoffs.
or
6-5 no playoffs, but still a good Wildcat team, just losing to more talented teams

What do you guys think? Any predictions?

We could win every game or lose every game. We still need a QB. Reality is, Weber is a QB away from being a team that could vie for the National Championship. Our defense will be the best in the Sky and we have 5 running backs who could each run for 100 yards a game. That tells us how good our offensive line is. Our issue is QB. Green red shirted last year and I feel that would be the best thing for Shaw to do this year. Maybe Green is now the guy? Imagine if we had a good QB??

This is the first time I heard Green redshirted... how come no one said anything every week we begged for Green to get a chance to play.

If our run game turns out to be as good as you predict, it will make any QB look better than average. I fully expect our QB play to either be better or look better. Much of it is on the shoulders of the receivers as well. Hopefully, we have a few of them step up and get the job done.

Coach Hill has had some good recruiting classes and has had many of them out on missions. We should start seeing it pay off this season. I am guardedly optimistic about this coming season. Our program seems to be on the upswing. :coffee:

My predictions:
G1 - @ Utah State: L (0-1) - We are improving but not to the point where we can realistically compete with FBS programs.
G2 - @ South Dakota - W (1-1) Surprise victory on the road. Giving us the confidence we need for upcoming conference schedule.
G3 - Sac State - W (2-1) We shouldn't have a problem with the hornets.
G4 - @ UC Davis L (2-2) So much traveling early in the season will take it toll.
G5 - Portland State L (2-3) Tough one... I can see it going either way, but I think the Vikings are deeper than us.
G6 - Montana State W (3-3) Season hope is renewed after a few tough losses to start the season.
G7 - @ SUU W (4-3) There is nothing I'd like to see more than a furious beat down of the Thunderbirds. Payback time in the Civil War.
G8 - @ ND L (4-4) This is another tough one. If it were at home, I'd say we win... I think this one will be close...
G9 - NAU W (5-4) Team will be peaking at the right time.
G10 - Cal Poly W (6-4) Keep on rolling
G11 - @ Idaho State W (7-4) End the season with a curb stomping of the Bengals in the Railroad Rumble/Border War (whatever we call it now).

7-4 Lose in first round of playoff. All in all a step forward. I look for the Wildcats to take a BIG step forward in 2017.

5-6 if our QBs perform as well as they did last season.

8-3 if we have a QB that can actually step up to the plate.

defensively the Cats are the best in the conference. North Dakota is a close second, but Jays kids get the nod because his secondary is so strong. On offense, well, The Cats are going to have one of the best running attacks in FCS. Weber will have four or five guys who can each go for 100 yards in a game. Not only that we have the hogs on the OL to open the holes and punish opposing defenses.

Reality is, is that Weber only needs enough of a passing attack to keep defenses honest. Jadrian is good enough to do that and since that is the case, The Cats are good enough to win 8 games. The Sky is good from top to bottom, so every week will be a war, but that is how it should be. Makes the season a lot of fun to watch.

Best thing about 2016, every game on the schedule is winnable.

Based off of last years results and who is coming back I believe the Sky will end up:
1. NAU
2. UND
3. Weber
4. Montana
5. Cal Poly
6. Portland State
7. Eastern Washington
8. Northern Colorado
9. Montana State
10. Southern Utah
11. Sacramento State
12. UD Davis
13. Idaho State

1-7 anyone could end up anywhere. Really hard to differentiate between the top 7. Weber thankfully gets three of these teams at home and plays at UND. Only Eastern and Montana aren't on our schedule this season.

8-10 aren't that far off. They have talent and are going to surprise some teams. I feel each aren't in the top because of specific reasons. Such as, SUU lost a lot of talent and their coach, UNCO still has suspect coaching but decent talent, and State doesn't have much of a defense and has a new coach (they are in rebuild mode this season).

11-13 aren't necessarily bad, but they aren't good either. Sears is rebuilding at Sac and has a lot of youth. Davis has Gould...need I say more and the Big Human isn't getting enough to stay up with the rest of the league in Poky.

Best Case for Weber: I'll be honest, every game on our schedule is winnable. So, best case is 11-0. However, that isn't going to happen. I think Weber drops 3/4 and ends up with 8/7 wins.

Worst Case, Weber wins 4.
