Solid group!!!!!!! Has anyone heard if any incoming freshman is graduating early and joking for spring ball, like Keenan Williams did 2 years ago?

OL should be better than last year and our RBs should have a bigger role as well.

I suspect the tempo of the offense will change, but should be almost as dinamic.

I am worried about the DL size after our first couple of starters. We look real light compared to the OL. Never been in those trenches but don't we need more beef, as the little old lady said "were's the beef"? Our best run stoppesr of the last few years have been the 290-300 range and they are no were to be seen on this roster?

Agree completely. We need some beef right in the middle, and that has been lacking ever since Renard Williams left.

No joke. We need to be able to stop the run in December. We keep finding that out the hard way.

go eags!

Yeah, DT appears to be an issue on paper. I don't see Tre Neal on this list, but he'll certainly help in 2018 (assuming he qualifies). This might be area to seek out a transfer to fill a spot.

This is a result of being in a pass happy conference. Coaches are focusing on getting to the quarterback, rather than controlling the line of scrimmage.

The typical set up in the 4-3 is speed on the edge and anchors in the middle. My guess, if no one else gets added to the roster, is Lino and Tiuli to start. That's about 270 and 300; it says 265 and 315 on the roster, but I don't think that is up to date.

Don't forget Amir Matheney, incoming freshman 305 40: 5:01

That's right, I did forget and I loved his videos. I just do not understand the lack of size on the defensive side of the ball. I could see it if we were bigger at LB but we are average at best.

I like Kieth Moore as well at at 6'5 290#. With his athleticism I could also see him playing some 3 tech along side Tiulli. I think we'll be fine With JT, Moore and Matheny.

Everyone expects big things from Matheney, I just don't think a team wants to expect too much from an incoming freshman. Give the kid a year or so before ramping up expectations...

Been waiting for spring ball to get going, and am hoping to get some progress reports from local Eags as game type indicators develop.

Lol... fair enough. I'd settle for him being an All American as well! That said, experience says it's awfully rare for a DT to come in as a freshman and be a dominant player. I just don't think it's fair for fans to have that kind of an expectation for a first year kid. If he does, than damn, he'll be a superstar! However, I'd be more than happy to see him provide some depth at the position and work his way to becoming a regular starter over the next couple of years.

We have to have several freshman really excel, with the great recruiting we have been getting it should payoff in the early performances. Every year these recruits are just better athletes than we ever hoped to have just 5 years ago. The running backs came through last year. I am hoping that we get several defense performances this year.

I guess I don't see where any Freshman are going to have to step up in the same capacity as Custer and Pierce had to step up last year at running back. We are stacked at corner and safety. If a freshman plays it will be because they are an amazing talent and better than what we have rather than because we have to. We are in the same boat at LB and DE. The only position I can see a freshman stepping in is at NT and that is added depth behind Tiulli and Kieth Moore. We should be fine at 3 tech DT.

Same thing for offense. I do not see any true freshman having to play anywhere unless they absolutely beat out what we already have.
