Ashamad Pinchem not on the current roster.

During Media Days interview, Coach Hill had some high praise for both Josh Davis and Kevin Smith, saying Kevin Smith was the best player on the field two years ago in playoff loss to JMU. IMO, getting Smith back healthy will greatly help take some of the load off of Josh Davis and the passing game. Running game should be scary good.

He also said that they are, by far, the best running backs in the BSC. Teams will be keying so much on the run game that our passing game should find it easier. I fully expect our entire offense to be much improved over last year. I also believe that our D will be just as strong. The expectations for this team are high.

So what’s the projected o-line?

LT - Stilson
LG - McGinnis
C - Bos
RG - Whitworth
RT - Downs

What do you think?

Looks about right. McGinnis has the most experience, but there might be a few players in the mix at LG. I think it depends on injuries and who has improved most over the off season. Could also see a late JUCO signing which would impact the two deep.

Mark my word. This will be a breakout year for the O. Our D has carried us for a long time now. We will own all three sides of this thing, this year.

Our O line is good, our stable of running backs is outstanding, our receiving corps is great, and our QB is returning with high level experience under his belt, and at full strength. The outlook for our O is nothing but outstanding. Add to that, we know what our D does year in and year out. We also know what our special teams do, year in and year out.

Look out San Diego State. A Wildcat attack is coming to your town soon.

Everything about our offense is positive. We return a lot of starters and lettermen. The OC, Coach Schramm, has been with the program for more than a year and the players understand his system far better. Under-developed positions have more depth, experience, and talent; I'm looking at you TEs. The RB position is completely stacked with talented and experienced guys, and finally, our line is deep, talented, and experienced. I'm not going to claim it is the best in the FCS or even Sky, but the guys available to Coach Hill who are lineman are scary good and our line has the potential to being the best in the nation. If there is a position on offense that I'm worried about it is the FB position. Yes, we have Clay Moss who is good and experienced, but really nobody to back him up.

I see your concerns about the FB position. I'm not quite as concerned because of how we seem to use a FB. I think Jackson, Smith, or any of our stable can fill in quite nicely. In fact, Jackson has the strength and speed to be sensational as a FB. As the TEs go, either they come around or we just use WRs in that position. I've watched these guys in the weight room all summer and there has been some tremendous work going on. The mood seems to be quite upbeat at all positions. I'm excited to see the results on the field.

Actually, I'm pretty excited about our TE corp. Yes, a lot of raw and inexperienced talent, but nonetheless, some really skilled guys. Plus the more our current guys got on the field last year, the better they played. Malone will only be better this year. That guy is one tough kid.

With the FB...I agree there are some RBs who could come in and play the FB position. In fact under Coach Hill, the FB position actually has been more of a hybrid than anything else. The FB has been used a lot in our scheme. Brady May was a hell of an awesome player and Thompson before him. I'm guessing as the full time FB, Moss will be good also and will only get better.

Kris Jackson looks like a beast as well. I wonder if he might be converted to a fullback.

We don't use a lot of two back sets. When we do, it is usually to block for the TB or QB on pass plays. When the FB gets the ball it's usually on short yardage, a screen pass, or a short pass over the middle. About 80% is still blocking a LB or DE.
