2022 Season Prediction Thread

Interesting take from Massey on the season for the Eagles. Much to be seen from the new coaching staff.

I like the Eagles for 7-4 with the most difficult schedule in the FCS... again. Excited to see an improved running and play action game on offense and a continuation of the defensive improvements from last season even with a very young LB corps.

They don't pay me for accuracy.

Not quite ready to panic but with interviews like the one I posted on 2022 season thread from Coach AB; it certainly raises concerns for me.

Prediction is we have several players really blossom this year and our qb(s) come thru this challenging schedule...CHALLENGING. UM and Weber on the road. At least we get bye after Oregon when MSU comes to town plus the bonus of MSU having to play Oregon State the week we mend. Then travel to Florida only to go to Weber..ouch. 7-4 and we squeak into the playoffs.. Now, all these players are Best's recruits..right? Then we need 7-4 or better. Guess it won't be a total shocked if 6-5 or 8-3. They need to step up for us to keep the mojo going. Want to make the playoffs please.

The post scrimmage interview is a little disconcerting. Sometimes schism's happen on teams when big changes occur at QB. Am hoping this is not the case with the Eagles. Obviously, there has been significant coaching changes too. Agree the record could be worse than 7-4.

Adding that I expect the RB's to have a big year. Does Ingram at TE have the kind of year that attracts the notice of the NFL?

Concur on post scrimmage interview was like not using excuses but here's the excuses. Is odd they practice yesterday till 5pm then scrimmage next morning at 9;45am...why didn't they stick to the scheduled 3pm scrimmage time. At QB Kekoa Visperas(redshirt freshmen) got the most action stat wise and Ryan Kelly did not play...wonder why? I have more questions now than ever...

Breakdown of the scrimmage. The numbers for the offense don't suck. Not surprised about Kekoa. He was the one guy on the roster who had the look and feel of EB3. Looks like he made the most of his opportunity. Glad to see the RB's do well in what appears to be a balanced attack. OL run blocking must have been OK, not so much on the pass blocking it sounds like. Also appears a lot of the transfers got playing time.

A little disturbed to hear there are some injuries amongst the DL. If true, that doesn't bode well for a position group I thought would be a strength. They haven't even played a game yet. :ohno:

**there was a post that said the scrimmage was moved to the morning due to heat.. other comments will be reserved :| **

LOL... having us with #1 offense have to think with #6 ranking massey going strickly by last year numbers...right? Massey should stick to tractor line.

What a difference 3 months can make.
At least next year Eastern doesn't have two FBS road games, just open with NDSU on the road followed by a trip to Fresno State. At least Fresno will be breaking in a new QB. Maybe it will be Joshua Woods who decommitted from Eastern last year. I had a hunch he was going to bail when he didn't sign duing the early signing period. After he signed with Fresno state I figured if had signed with Eastern he would be the type to jump in the transfer portal after having a decent season. will be interesting to see if it works out for him.

What's actually eerie is I was highlighting in this thread the weird scrimmage post game interview and the fact GT didn't participate but "won" the job. I believe this had a distinctly negative impact on the teams performance. I've seen it before.

Hope this season was an aberration for Best but I think he was building to this implosion. This isn't Bama where they lose coaches every season and just reload with ex-HC talent. 4 OC's, 3 DC's and 1 who walked in the middle of his 3rd season (weird covid years) with an all world QB. All under Best. I'd lose him, but am not likely to get my way, so here's hoping.

Too your point on signee's, it may be a leading indicator if all those committed actually sign in December that the ship is righting itself. BTW, I may have missed some, so everyone please update any new or old info you find. :-)
