Early signing period is over and We have signed 9 HS players. We also have a punter committed, a walk on 3* transfer WR, and a 3* OL transfer committed. Of the HS players one is a 3* lb, one is a 3* WR, two are 3* RBs, and one is a 3* DB with 4.3 speed. The rest are highly reguarded and heavily recruited players. This is the most we have ever signed in the early period. We will likely sign 15 to 20 players in February.
Between now and February we will be looking at transfer players and HS players who may have been overlooked in the early signing period. In the past several years we have done well with this recruiting strategy.
The WRs we have brought in will replace those we lost. That room should look quite similar to last season. The 3 RBs we have brought in look to have great potential and will solidify the needed depth in that room. The LB we brought in from Northridge High looks to have really good potential and likewise the DE from Sugar City, Idaho. The DBs we have signed all look like they can help the depth in that room and a couple of them may compete for good minutes.
For February's signing, I think we will see an emphasis on OLs, DLs, DBs, LBs, and TEs. All of those positions need to be fortified and have depth built.
As long as all of our QBs come back, we should be okay there. However, we may see a HS QB brought in for the future. You always need 4 or 5 in that room.
I also expect to see another large contingent of walk on players.
What happens between now and July will determine how next fall will go. It's all about getting the players and developing them.
