Wow! Huge jump from the Big Sky to possibly the best conference in the country. Colorado is taking a huge gamble. And Boyle is taking over a program that has traditionally been awful. I don't know if it's even possible to succeed in Boulder. Good luck with that.

Denver Post expects CU to make the announcement today. Making about $1Mil with a 56W-66L record at UNC, wow. He never even won a game in the Big Sky Tournament. I predict he will be a failure at CU. Same result as Giacoletti at the U.

not quite the same result as giacoletti. that would mean boyle would get CU to the sweet 16 in one of the 3 years. and giacoletti was legit in the big sky much more so that boyle who wasnt with us long. i guess i can see your comparison expect giacoletti was around longer to do more.

he took ewu, a school that had bascially done nothing in basketball prior to him and even since he left they have sucked since. Even with Rodney Stuckey they never did better than .500 in big sky play. Gia went to 4 straight big sky conf tourney title games.

it does sound weird though knowing unc has never won a conf tourney game. i also wonder if this means unc will go back to being irrelevant as quickly as next season. PSU isn't looking so great with Bone gone. That is a sign of a good coach.

Hopefully the new coach will be good. UNC fans were just getting something good going. We were really lucky to keep our coach.

Great move by CU in my book. Boyle was still under the radar, but had done a remarkable job in turning around UNC. He comes from that Rahe school of hard work and team play. I won't be surprised to see the Buff's in a post season tourney next year.

B.J. Hill named University of Northern Colorado men's basketball coach

B.J. Hill has been named the University of Northern Colorado men's basketball coach, according to a prepared release issued today.

Hill, who was the Bears' associate head coach under Tad Boyle, has been with UNC since 2006. He spent the first two seasons as an assistant then was promoted to associate head coach in 2008.

UNC athletic director Jay Hinrichs said there is no contract finalized for Hill.

After receiving his bachelor's degree in business administration from Grand View College in 1996, Hill, a native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, coached at five different schools. The longest stint was his five-year period Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College.

The promotion will be Hill's first head coaching position.

Boyle's position opened today when he was hired to the same position at the University of Colorado.

For more, see Tuesday's Tribune.

Boyle will continue building the program. CU was, and is, a fairly impotent program, but having another coach cut from the same mold as, Bdzelik (Sp?), is going to help the Buffs. It seems as if Bdzelik had righted the ship. Now its up to Boyle to see if he can keep CU afloat or if the Buff program quickly sinks and he, Boyle, finds himself as an asst. to Tim Miles at CSU in a couple years.

Has anyone heard if UNC will be keeping all of their players? Will some be leaving to join Boyle at CU? I could see Addo and Garnica leaving to play at a Big 12 school.

This could have been what happened to Weber. If Rahe would have left for Boise, I'm pretty sure that Weber would have hired Duft. I'm not sure if he is ready to take over a DI program, yet.
