With Jones coming back I see NAU finishing 3rd or 4th but if Jones leaves I don't think they'd make the conf tourney.

Jones withdraws name from draft today,,.. unlike the above mention, I don't believe NAU will be a factor next year, it will come down Montana State (2), and Weber State (1)... Montana lost too much (3), Portland state (4) did also,,, Backcourts are hard to replace, easier inside people... Northern Colorado (5) has alot back but, new coaches struggle usually...Eastern Washington (7), NAU (6), Montana, and Northern Colorado fight for fifth and sixth place, Idaho State and Sac fight to stay off the bottom...

I like your attitude about Montana, but I can't agree with you. Montana, has two of the best bigs in the big sky, in Qvale and Selvig, back and one of the best guards in the Sky coming back. On top of that UM has had two great recruiting classes in a row. Granted, their Fr. will be somewhat raw, they will contribute. I'm wondering about their Sr's and incoming JCs. Those players could be the deciding factors.

There is way to much change happening in the Sky this off season. Anyone could end up anywhere next year. Every school has some good recruits coming in that will contribute immediately for their respective programs. Calling the Sky is going to be really tough. Granted, Weber is the top team, but there are going to be some surprises next year. ISU, MSU, and PSU will be almost completely new. NAU has three or four really solid players on top of Jones, UNC, depending on Hill could be at the top again, and Eastern...well...Earlywine has to produce. To bad his bigs are really young, but then again I thought that about his FR guards and they ended up being really good last year. For Weber to be successful, they will need Richardson, Bamforth, Fulton, and Tresnak to produce immediately. Weber needs more scoring threats than just Lillard.

Talhadfoursteals, I concur. The Big Sky Conference is wide open next year. WSU, UM, MSU, UNC and PSU all lost some good talent/scoring. They, arguably, lost more than the other teams in conference but have talent returning as well. ISU, EWU and Sacramento State were not pushovers last year.

It's hard to predict based on or count on freshmen/transfers to be a program's savior unless your team has a John Wall type player coming in.... and that's not a "problem" facing any Big Sky Conference teams. I enjoy the prediction part of sports but it's nothing but speculation and conjecture. My prediction is that UM has the best bigs next year and WSU has the best guards but who has the best team....won't know til next March.

NAU lost their "glue" guy - Larson - and a freshman forward - Wallace - to a transfer. If their point guards stay healthy, put up a few more points and acclimate to running the offense then I have faith they'll have a good upcoming season. NAU has never had great fan support, facilities (they're playing the upcoming season in their "preseason" gym on south campus due to a yearlong Skydome upkeep project after football is over) or recruiting budget but Adras continues to keep them in the mix more often than not.

It's May and I'm already looking forward to college basketball...gonna be a long summer.
