251 = 251

Joel needs 251 rebounds to become the Big Skys all time rebound leader. He needs 247 to pass Willie as the school leader. He should be closing in on the marks the first week of February if he stays healthy. Steve Hayes played in 110 games while Willie just played in 81. Joel has already played in 96 games, although he did not get big minutes as a Freshman. I project he will play at least 126 games during his career. Do career records mean as much when players play more games than in decades past?

I say that it is a hell of an accomplishment. One might argue that it is harder for a big to get rebounds in todays 3 point happy college game. Missed 3 pointers tend to have a longer trajectory than shorter shots.

Just imagine how prolific of a player Willie was...he did all of his damage in only 81 games. Insane!!

As for Joel, that says a lot about him as a player to be able to be in the position he is currently to take over the top spot for the school and the conference. There have been a lot of talented big men come through the Sky and he will be at the top for rebounds and blocks by the time he leaves. He will, most likely, end up with around 1500pts as well. What an accomplishment for Joel.
