2nd Spring Scrimmage

Defense kicked ass and took names today. Offense had few answers. GG did well at QB which is expected. Barriere made way to many mental mistakes today, he can throw it down field thought. The run game is starting to show some progress, today toward the end of scrimmage. O line still a work in progress with moving people around. They missed a lot of assignments. You can not do that with the speed of this defense. Tristan Taylor moved from Left Tackle to left guard this year?? He was great 1st season last year at blind side. I want to fined out why he is moved to inside? Lots of possible reasons? I wanted to see Terence Grady a WR but he did not dress today? I am not a reporter but you got my two cents worth. See you next week for last of the spring ball

Jim Allen's take: http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2017/apr/22/eastern-washington-defense-highlights-second-scrim/

D playing well makes a lot of sense. 3rd year in the scheme, lots of competition to get on the field, great athletes and general familiarity should translate to large improvements. Not clear on the OL issues. They played well last year and there is talent there. Scheme thing? It's early. Even from Frisco, can feel the RB's wanting to show their stuff. No room for complacency, look for the Offense to turn it up next week.

They did move Taylor to the inside to get more push in the run game. Sounds like they want some steamrollers on the interior to get a little nastier. I'm happy the D is having success early. Their success will give Fred plenty to chew on. I'm also guessing the offense is keeping it kind of vanilla. Thanks for the report Ron-eag!

go eags!

Yes, defense looked fabulous! They played tough and showed a lot of grit! The intensity level all around seemed different-- in a good way. Did anyone else notice that? I love hearing Coach Best's post-scrimmage. His energy is soooo contagious, and gets you excited for what's to come. Looking forward to seeing the Red/White Scrimmage next weekend! 133 days to kick-off!!!!!

It looked like all of the plays were scripted, did you think so? Assuming coach Salanoa will be calling plays, was he on the field or in the box?

We were in Bozeman last weekend and saw the MSU spring game. Didn't see anything that scared me. Murry kid still looked to run pretty quickly. Contain him and there did not seem to be many other threats.
