#3 EWU @ MSU - GDT

What can we expect from this team? It seems like they are rebuilding offensively around a young true Freshman QB, but improving each week.

We saw the kind of effect that losing your senior leader can have on your team. Ironically, MSU lost their starting QB to Oregon just like we did last year and seem to be in full rebuild mode. From what I have seen of Murray, there's some real talent there but at this point he seems really raw. I think for EWU, MSU's running game is the bigger threat so stack the box and make Murray make some throws. They'll get the occasional big play, but I don't think they can keep up with our offense. The bigger concern for me is how many guys we've gotten back from injury.I hope we can get at least 1-2 back on the offensive line. Starting a backup TE at RT the last game was pretty scary.

They're better than their record shows and always give us a game in Bozeman. I'm willing to bet that they will try to do the same thing that everyone has tried this year = run, run, run and try and keep our offense off of the field. Agree that they may have a hard time keeping up on offense due to our big play ability.

If you watched Root sports Sat. you should have no concerns about the MSU defense or Offense. They are not good on either side of the ball and it will be a sad day in Montana next Saturday.

I hope you're right.

The reality is that we tend to play down to the level of our opponents, especially in the first half of games. We haven't really bombed a team in quite a while. I'd love to see us do it on Saturday, but I'm sure the game will be suspiciously close.

I watched them for a while on Saturday and they were showing a deep zone in pass coverage against Weber State. We'll pick them apart if they don't change that up.

Their offense is anemic, but even anemic offenses have done well against us in the past. This was the game I've been waiting for, because if we can't absolutely manhandle their offense, it doesn't bode well for us. We haven't given up less than 30 in a game this year; if we give up 30 to Montana State, it means our defense hasn't shown the amount of improvement we all had hoped for. That said, I'd be unpleasantly surprised if they actually score that much--- I'd put my over/under line between 21 and 24.

MSU is probably a year or 2 away from getting back into the upper tier of the Big Sky, but I wouldn't completely write them off. They've shown some flashes of good play here and there, so if they can put it all together at home then we'll have a decent game. That said, the Sac St. and Idaho losses look really, really bad. I believe Idaho lost to WSU by 50 or so points, so if you're into the transitive property thing, this is a game we should be able to win rather handily.

Has anyone heard anything on the status of Schlichting, Graham, and Jones? Our offensive line was starting to look REALLY thin going into the bye week.

Beat me to it.

Not to mention their entire coaching staff. I could be wrong, but I just don't see this game being close with an additional week to prepare.

A 27-24 win over powerhouse Bryant says it all. Their only other win is against DII Western Oregon.

This one could get ugly.

I hate games like this. It's a figurative no-win situation. If it's close, we look terrible, and we have a penchant for playing down to down teams.

With you Ron. Have seen two MSU games and they didn't show any improvement to me. Let's get in there, carry the lunch pail and take care of business. Weather is supposed to be nice, so no excuses. Business trip.
