3 Huskies defenders go in 1st round

Hard to believe we ran up 52 points against a team with 3 first-round defensive draft picks. Plus, Kakaha will be a high-rounder.

It makes you squirm a little to think how good we could have been last year by playing just a smidgeon of defense.

I fear that the reverse will be true this coming season. I think our defense will be improved, but after watching some of spring ball I wonder if we will struggle to move the ball.

We've had a bad game here or there offensively during the Baldwin era, but our offense has always been near or top of the conference-- and all of FCS--- in yardage and scoring. I'd be shocked if we aren't at least passable on O. This crew simply makes things happen on that side of the ball.

However, our defense has been pretty bad since 2010. Worse yet, we graduated a lot of players from that side of the ball. Nothing indicated we'd be as bad as we were in 2014. I can't imagine we won't be better, but to make a leap to one of the conference's best? It's hard to imagine that much improvement following this much turnover.

I sure hope we see that kind of improvement, though. I'm glad we've made some changes to try and shake things up.

Also, Kikaha went early second round. Four Husky defenders went in the top 44 picks, and our offense ROLLED them.

I just remember Cooper Kupp beating double coverage, primarily Markus Peeters for a TD in the corner of the endzone. Being a lifelong Husky fan I think Peeters, was an embarrassment! Glad Peterson kicked him off the team, although his antics are loved in the NFL by coaches and fans alike and that why I like the college game. The NFL is too much like pro wrestling! Also Danny Shelton is overrated! Strong yes but too fat and too slow. He has too slow a first step and cant get off a god blocker. His backup Elijah Qualls, I think he will be really good. Fast first step and for 310 pounds is so athletic. He played running back in HS. Look him up you tube.

Ditto. I have a hard time thinking our offense is going to struggle; even without Adams.

Qualls is a stud and he did in fact play HB in high school. I coached against him his senior season. One of our incoming class of 2015 played against him as a Sophomore (Qualls was a senior) and our kid had a very successful blocking percentage against him and even got a pancake on him on a down block.

I think Qualls is going to have a monster year if the reports of his work ethic are true.

I know I was shocked at how horrible the defense was last year considering the experience, but on the other hand maybe it just indicates that last year's seniors weren't very talented. I think the defense will be more talented with less experience. It literally could be worse then allowing teams to score on every possession.
