Was there really this many people at the G1 to watch Sac State vs Portland!?

Is this a case of build it and they will come syndrome?

Only 880 made it to the Nest vs a better team last night.

Again, this program is shackled by the subpar facility called the Nest.

Get something on campus built. Any kind of update on this vapor dream would be nice.

Haven’t heard squat about this in over six months.

The lower bowl really filled up towards the second half of the game. I’d say that number is correct, but 75% KU fans.

I'm one of those who has been following the event center saga. I go to football and basketball games every year and I, for one, think the absence of an on campus arena at Sac State needs to be a hot button issue. The problem is no one is willing to carry the torch in this effort. Sac State doesn't have a Kevin Johnson or Carmichael Dave or Crown Downtown to go out in the community to make it known what an event center means to the university. There's only so much President Robert Nelsen and Mark Orr can do. It's up to the Hornet fans to raise their voices and get people to care about Sac State. Getting the Sacramento community on board with the project would help immensely. If President Nelsen and Mr. Orr have been trying to get people interested in the event center, I can't help but think they're being met with a lot of resistance. If anyone feels an arena at Sac State is important to them, they need their voices heard not only to the campus leaders, but in the Sacramento community as well.

I was there, K is right and I agree that the number is legit. Of course the bulk of it didn’t show up until the 2nd half of the Hornet game. The Hornet game tipped off just after 5 PM on a workday. I didn’t get into my seat until 5 minutes of the first half had already passed. I would love to see the Hornets play Cal or Nevada (or another name program) with a 7 PM tip on a weekend (Thur-Sat) to see what kind of attendance they would get.

Welcome ECN! The latest events center fundraising effort, Power of 1000, is chronicled on this board here and is "stickied" up top.

I agree that this needs to get done and believe it will; but it’s now up to Nelsen and Orr to get this done. We’re not going to fundraise the full cost of the events center Bernie Sanders style…but that was never the intention of P1000. P1000 was to get the seed money for the feasibility study, which last I heard is currently in progress.

Nelsen and Orr (mainly Orr) need to chase corporate dollars, corporate sponsors, and large donors (6+ figure range). The P1000 campaign isn’t going to get that kind of money, nor was it designed to. In fact I'll go a step further and say that one of the main reasons Nelsen made the move to get a new AD last spring was to bring in someone he believed could get this thing built.
