I don't know if you all are aware but it is the 10 year anniversary of Weber State beating UNC in the first round of the NCAA B-Ball tournament.

I have emailed WSU admin and marketing about getting together the 98-99 basketball team to come to one of the home basketball games this year. I think if done right could be a big deal around here, maybe have a dinner before the game, meet and get autographs before the game, etc. I would love to know what all the former players are doing now and Coach Abegglen.

Weber beat UNC!? Whatever. next thing you'll be telling me we've also beat Michigan St in the tourney.
WSU rules. I really hope we get another shot at UCLA in the preseason this year.

Let's not get crazy ahead of ourselves but next year we could have a 15 year celebration and bring back the '95 team. Gold toothed Ruben Nembard and the gang.

I saw Coach "A" at a home game last year sitting a few rows below where my parents have season tickets. I wanted to tell him that his 1995 team beating Michigan State is the greatest sports highlight of my life, besides the obvious John Stockton half-courter to send the Jazz to their first finals. It's a given that nothing will ever beat that shot, unless Weber wins the NCAA tourney or the Jazz win it all.

I'm sure some of you are saying...why the Michigan State game back in '95? Why not the North Carolina game in '99? I'll give you the reason. In 1995, at the tender age of 14, I gave the Wildcats no chance of winning, which made their eventual win that much bigger in my youthful eyes. After that, no one dared look past them (except the Tar Heels), because they'd shocked the world once before. So, because it was so unprecedented (I believe it was the biggest upset in tournament history up until that time), it will always be more magical than the win over North Carolina.

How dare you compare a Jazz highlight to WSU!! lol As purplefogdog would say...Jazz Suck!!

What about 1993? That was the year Jimmy D guided WSU to its LAST win at the Spectrum in Logan. Jimmy made a 3 from halfcourt to win the game.

Well, considering I was 12 years old when Jimmy hit that three, you'll have to forgive me for not remembering very well. Sounds like a thrilling moment though, one I wish I could have witnessed. As far as hating the Jazz goes, I pity anyone who can't love one thing without hating another. Hate is baggage. Why not love Weber and the Jazz? Cheering for both teams enriches my life more than cheering for just one. But that purplefogdog is entitled to his idiotic opinions. That's what makes America great. Being free to be stupid.

CatCat is a MUTE... PURPLEFOGDOG is one of the biggest Jazz fans ever, he has broken a number of tables throughout the greater Northern Utah area over Jazz games.
I definitely remember Jimmy D's three against Utah State... HOLY SHIZ was that a thing of beautyl!!! Weber was down at one point by, I think, 25 and came back to win it on that last second three... WOW!!!
Does anyone remember the first game of the 95-96 season, when Weber went to Fresno and beat them by 18 pts, in the preseason NIT??? That was a huge upset.
Talking about the 95 team, I ripped my sportjacket when that dumb shiz hit that last second shot. Damn Iverson and his airball, Weber would have beaten Georgetown in overtime, they had the momentum. I've always felt bad for Ruben... I'll never forget going to a party at the Dee after the loss and seeing him apologizing to the crowd for missing the front end of a one and one that would have put Weber ahead and blaming himself for the loss. Ruben was the team leader, he was the go to guy, he was one of the biggest reasons why Weber got as far as they did... Thank You Ruben!! You are definitely one of my Favorite WSU players!!

LOL in 1993 I was 14! No I was not at the game...just heard the stories from WSU and USU fans. But an easy one to remember since it was our last W in Logan. Maybe this year we can get it done. Last time we were there we almost had it. Vs USU, we are 8-19 in Logan, 15-13 in Ogden, 2-0 at the Delta Center, 0-1 in Alaska. Hey talhadfoursteals, speaking of 1995, that was the only season from 1971-2008 we didn't play the Aggies...convenient for them.

The "dumb shiz" you're referring to is named Don Reid. He was the last pick in the NBA draft that year, played for the Detroit Pistons for a while, but was out of the league pretty quick, if I'm not mistaken. I have a video at home that I got free with a Sports Illustrated subscription called "1995 The Year in Sports." On the video there's a short clip of that fateful shot with the title underneath reading "Georgetown Defeats Weber State at the Buzzer." Very cool that the folks at Sports Illustrated thought that moment was important enough to include on their video. And I have it all memorialized until VHS is no longer a viable media format. Let's pray that day never comes.

Don Reid along with Teddy Dupay are names that I totally despise! I'm virtually sure I have watched that video...when I saw it again the same reaction recurred, complete disgust and overwhelming anguish. What a horrible moment in Weber State basketball lore. Not even fruit punch and the simpson's could cure such a vociferous scene. Ahhhh...What could have been?!? SWEET 16....

Oh yeah CatCat, eustachy didn't want to play the Cats in 1995 because he knew Weber would beat his Aggies. By the By, there is less than one month till the Weber State/Utah State game. Road Trip?
