A HUGE difference

There is a HUGE difference between just being in the playoffs and a being team. History has shown that the possibility of making it to the chipper as a seeded team is far far greater than being an at large team just making it in.
One one hand 2-2 is 2-2 but if we had won either in Toledo or at Sam and lost to Western Oregon would you still be saying "oh well 2-2 is all I expected". I certainly would not in fact after we beat OSU I am disappointed we are 2-2 as is the staff and team I am sure.
I am confident the coaches will get the kids in position to win but it has to happen on the field if we
want to be a seeded team and a trip to Frisco.

oops- edited

Tea? Western Utah? Some sentences that make you say ??? Must be a heck of a hang over
That said, I think I agree with your underlying premise that it's better to be seeded!

The really scary thing to consider is what if Oregon State had won? Eastern would be 1-3 and pretty much out of the playoffs right now. I always bitch about extreme scheduling, and this is why. Chaves leaves us no margin of error.

Dopa I have been on your side of the scheduling thing from the get go, but since we won a FBS game this year I have backed off a little bit, but you are right, we shouldn't have to win at OSU or at Toledo to have a shot at the playoffs. Good thing we did this year....

I believe 2014 is another 12 game regular season, maybe I'm wrong. If it is, we better schedule that 4th non-conf game as a home game and not a road game, we already play at Washington and at Montana State and host Sam Houston for non-conf.

We open with one of the directional Montana's... I think Northern. That said, I know there was some talk about pushing Sam Houston State into a national TV slot a week earlier and taking two bye weeks during the season (this is dependent on NCAA approval). I think the NCAA is also going to rule that non-conf games against conference foes will be non-counters, but that will not apply to games already contracted.

Another thing that we have no control over and there is a whole lot of season to play out yet but the loss to SHSU could have relegated us to the #4 seed at best. If everything goes well in conference play and the BSC winner is a seed it may be #4 at best and in that case we have to go through Fargo before Frisco.
Ouch!

:+1: bring on NDSU

I have said for two straight years now that EWU is the best match up for NDSU!! Granted I'd rather face them in Frisco for the National Championship than go to the Fargo Dome, but we match up so much better with them than we do SHSU. Sometimes there is just those teams that other teams just don't match up well with and that's us against SHSU. I think our offense is set up perfectly to play against the Bison D and our D would fair a bit better against their offense.

But that's a long way down the road with a whole lot of improvement needed from our D...

Y'all go knock them out for us. :D

I don't get it....you guys have looked so good against us the last two meetings and I thought for sure you'd take care of NDSU last season and then in the chipper, it got ugly! The Bison are good, really good, but I don't think they're invincible like so many seem to think. What has happened the last two years??

Not taking ANYTHING away from NDSU...they have earned all the pub they're getting during this run but IMO in has come down to Bohl having almost a month to prep for an option-style offense. The 1st game came down to ONE play...the fake punt. Bottom line. Great call & Kats never recovered. Lost 17-6.

Last yr, Kats are driving, 3rd qtr in a 10-10 ballgame & Flanders breaks for 40....but a phantom holding call brought it back. Next play = pick. Kats go up 17-10...who knows?? Not to mention, our All-Everything safety shredded his knee & our 2nd leading tackler went out with injury in 1st half & never saw the field again.

But...it's why you play the game. Kudos to NDSU.
