A question for the poster who called Whittingham classless.

What would you have him do, particularly on the fourth downs? I assume you are talking about the final score and the final drive. A FG absolutely is out of the question as that is certainly running up the score. Would you send a message to your kids that may not see the field again this year that can't play to compete by taking a knee turning the ball over? Would you have your punter pooch a kick to the five blatently sending the message that you don't respect the Wildcats enough to give full effort?

Coach Whittingham essentially spent the majority of the second half trying to run the clock out to the prevent scoring to the point where only 5 passes were thrown in the entire 30 minutes. I haven't rewatched the second half yet to verify but our group was noticing that virtually every play - if not every play - was a run straight at the A or B gap on the last drive. At that point, even though your players knew the only way they could do to save face was to stop the Utes, they couldn't.

I would be fascinated to hear your ideas how the quarter could have played out differently.

Whittingham is as big a douche as bronco. that being said if he could've scored 98 pts I have no problem with that. Wildcat fans know exactly where their fball program stands.

Year before last we were up 35 or 38 in the 2nd half against LK's mighty pac12 Utes, & I wished Rahe would have pushed for a 50 pt win. At the end of the day Utah will struggle mightily in the PAC just like they have since they entered & the Mighty Utes still refuse to play little ole Weber in hoops.

Only difference is Weber knows exactly their place, as for Ute fans they just have to be reminded at the end of every season when the Sun Bowl in El Paso starts calling.

MAN UP Doctor Chris Hill, & L Crisco & play us. You're in the mighty PAC 12, what could little Weber possibly do to you.

Never thought I could dislike a program worse than ybu, but it's quite easy these days. I mean what kind of fan base places stickers on their vehicles with conference affiliation....

I disagree, totally with the poster who was down on coach Whit. He is a class act and always will be. The starters were not played in the second half, to my understanding. It would have been nice if we could have competed a little better, but oh well.

LK is a totally different story. He is a total coward and, I predict, will not last long at Utah. He has turned me from a YBU hater to a UU hater. That was hard to do, as my son is a graduate of Utah. On the UU schedule, this year, are 10 purchased wins. Osama Bin Laden could get a winning season out of that, and he has been dead for a while now. So, when it doesn't happen, all of you staunch yewt fans should ask for his head on a platter.

:thumb: '61_Shasta', makes a good point as far as the end of the game...Wildcat D needs some fixin' fast, they're allowing a glaring amount of yards gained & points produced in these first two games. I would imagine that the Aggies are salivating in anticipation & ready to deal a second beating. Did Whittingham do something un-classy? Not noticed here, but didn't watch the whole game, too painful...just bracing for the next round, hoping the Wildcats can correct some problems & realizing it's a very tough spot in the schedule for the coaches and players. Good Luck Wildcats! :twocents:

The last scoring drive of the first half is what some Weber fans disliked. And I heard the coaches were pissed. Utah got the ball with under two minutes, up by 42, and could have ran out the clock. Instead they chose to score a touchdown.

Whittingham was just fine as a coach. You really think the team is going to kneel the ball and run out the clock in the first half when they can score a touchdown? They could have put up 100 on us if they wanted. Its not his fault we couldnt compete. The only thing that was classless about that game was us getting our butts kicked.

They didn't have to kneel to run out the clock. They were running their hurry up 2 minute offense, passing the ball down field, and scored with only a few seconds left. But who really cares. I'm upset that Weber was even playing this game. I blame Bovee.

I remember looking on my phone and Utah had the ball 4th and 1 at the Weber 12 or 11, they scored a touchdown on the very next play, I am sorry, at the time of this last touchdown with 1:45 left in the game up 63-7 Utah instead of kicking the field goal decided to go for a touchdown. On 4th Down. That to me does seem VERY classy, it's called purposely running up the score. Also I heard they were running a hurry up 2 minute offense on that last drive? Not classless?

It doesn't even matter if they ran up the score. We went there for one reason, a payout. They scheduled it to practice their offense and get an easy win.

Utah did not run the hurry up offense on the final drive of the game. They did run it on the last possession of the second half. The coaches made the decision to go two-minute when Utah got the ball back with around two minutes left in the half.

Yeah cause nobody wants to go into halftime up only 42 points

I guess KW and Utah can do what they want since they're paying good money to do so but there were two times in the blowout I was irritated and thought were classless. First, hurry-up offense or not and up 42-0 with 1:20 till half, Utah throws almost exclusively to squeeze in a 7th first-half touchdown and 35 point 2nd quarter. Nice!

Second, with 2-3 minutes left in the game and Utah now up 63-7, instead of attempting a ??30-yard field goal, Utah goes for it on 4th and 1 and, of course, ends up scoring yet another touchdown. There's nothing classy about that in my book, but Utah paid good money for a blowout and got what they paid for so whatever.

Speaking of classy, I'm not sure how classy it is for a ute fan to come on a Weber State forum after a total beat down like that and ask a Weber fan to justify their opinion. Whoever made the comment doesn't owe anyone any explanation or justification for stating their opinion.
