A TIME TO HEAL

Wildcat Attack

I hope that by Monday we'll have a better handle on our current injured players:

Kyle Mucher C
Ryan Eastman DL
Kevin Linehan DE
Cody Nakamura TE

Let's pray for miracles of healing for all of these starters!

Standard.net

Tight end Cody Nakamura left the game in the final minute of the first half with a knee sprain after catching six passes for 58 yards and a touchdown, and did not return in the second half. WSU also lost defensive lineman Kevin Linehan earlier in the second quarter due to a separated right shoulder. Linehan, who was injured while putting pressure on ISU quarterback Kyle Blum, also missed the second half. McBride said he thinks Linehan will be alright, but won't know about Nakamura until a MRI is performed

Mutcher should be back next week (hopefully, he would make our line that much better!!). Linehan should be back by the MSU game, same with Phillips, I've heard that Eastman could go as soon as MSU or earlier, unfortunately, Nakamura is most likely out for the season. ACL/MCL... I don't know if there has been an MRI, but I've heard a couple stories about his knee... what a horrible thing to happen to such a good guy and athlete. I have heard that, if his season is over, that he and the coaches will try to get a medical red-shirt. I hope the MRI finds his ligaments intack.

Naks is the man and is a big loss, but no one knows until the MRI. While injuries suck, it is truly an opportunity for someone to step up and become a clutch player, star, whatever you want to call it. Its really up to the coaches and Cam to keep going to that position as if Naks was still out there. Someone will step up. You just gotta believe that.

Big losses, big losses. Nakamura is looking at ACL/MCL, and that is season ending. Time for either Francisco or Halfhill to step up BIG TIME. Linehan will depend on severity of separation. Phillips I haven't heard. Eastman is sorely needed on the line, and could also come off of the edge if Linehan is out of service. We need Mucher ASAP. It amazes me how all of our 'notable' players are the ones getting hurt. Our guys need to keep their heads on a swivel when they're on the field. GO WILDCATS

I've been told that there is a 90% chance that Mutcher and Phillips will be back for the PSU game. Phillips had his knee scoped right after the CSU game. Unfortunately, Eastman wont be back for another three weeks. Out of all of the injuries, his was a complete cheap shot. Nak, well, lets hope that the MRI is conclusive and positive. Linehan could be two to three weeks away from playing. I've also heard that Dille is out. Is this just a rumor or is it true?

Now is the time for a lot of the younger players to gain some experience. I was most impressed with the defensive line. Two starters out and they are still playing hard and tough.

Regarding Eastman, no meniscus tear, MCL grade II only; that is great news. He should be good to go by Sac State game! No other news on the others yet

From what I have heard Kevin is planning on playing this saturday. They are fitting him with a shoulder brace just in case.

Great story by Jasen!! Lets all hope that Nak gets a Medical Red-shirt from the NCAA. I think he's got a better than 50% chance of getting one.

It was good to hear that Mutcher, Phillips, and Linehan should all be playing on Sat. What exactly happened to Mutcher? I really hope he plays on Sat. Weber definitely needs him back on the line. Not that the OL has been doing poorly, just the opposite, but with Mutcher back our line goes from being good to becoming dominant.

So will Eastman be ready to go by the next home game? That shot he took at the CSU game was ridiculous.

Who can be relied upon to take Nak's spot? I think, the most likely choice has got to be Halfhill. He played really well, last season, when Nak was switched to the slot when Etuati was suspended. He doesn't have the spend of Nak, nor the hands, but he can definitely be relied upon to make necessary catches and has pretty decent speed for a big man. He kinda reminds me of Cam Quayle and Ryan Prince, booth were exceptional receiving TEs. One thing he is really good at is blocking. An area the Cats are really going to miss Nak is on the long snapping duties...

As for the other receivers...With Phillips being back, I think the receiving corp is still extremely dangerous. Toone, as always is amazing, Collins has looked great this season, this past weekend may have been a abreakoutgame for him. Coming out of the back field Weber has three weapons in, of course, Smith, but refreshingly Eldridge and Bolen. Weber should be fine. What do you all think?

Cody should get the medical hardship, everything is in his favor at the time being.

They are looking at Sac State for Eastman to return, hopefully. It would be great to send a clip of that block to CSU's coaching staff so that they can see what tactics they had to use. I heard it was a double team + chop to the knee....just because Eastman was getting the better of #60 all day....what girls for O linemen.

Halfhill should fill the bill, just has to work on the blocking assignments more. Francisco caught 2 flags last game for penalties. I think all of our receivers will be clicking on all cylinders for this next game.

With Mutcher back it will give us the leadership we need out there! Also, Cameron will be more at ease with his regular center in front of him. All is good, one snap and clear!

GO WILDCATS!

My bet is that they will tweak the offense a bit and use Bolen in two or three ways. They'll do more 4-wide and run out of the spread. Look for Bolen to play slot and receiver. Maybe Higgins will run a bit... and I hope "a bit" is accurate. I think it would be good because with 4-wide personnel Higgins should be able to mix things up at presnap. This run-run-pass stuff is not what brought them success last year. The players are awesome but the scheme and play calling let them showcase their talent.

Tafuna looked good running the ball also; showing some great potential. Bolen is a baller, short dump pass and he'll make it happen. TE's coming off of the block on the DE should give some room also. I look for our Offense to light it up at PSU, it's time for a 'coming out' party!!!!

GO WILDCATS!!!

I thoroughly agree!! I think the play calling has been unusual at best. Why go away from something that was so successful? Honestly, if you have a spread offense and it has been successful, then run the DAMN SPREAD!! I don't understand why the coaching staff has been going away from it. The entire point of the game is to score the most points, and to limit the points of the opposing team. Weber has a great a great offense, and a number of really talented players, but you can't be predictable. Maybe Weber should have paid McGiven a bit more to have kept him. Thats it.. I just had to vent for a second.

You seem very familiar to Bobandwaldo all your stats and facts, and overuse of the phrase LOOOOL. I'm expecting (excepting?? seriously) the team I watched last year. The offense isn't as crisp as it was last year, and with all the returning starters you'd expect that. By the way, why you attacking talhad? What did he do to you?

Its weird. Smith got the ball the same amount of times. Higgins passed about the same amount of times, yet the mix seems a little predictable. They still look sharp and put up points, though.

There is only one BobandWaldo!! Also, why are some of you complaining about our offense? 44 points, 500+ yards, we won the game. This isn't last year's team and if you aren't aware, Nak is out, Phillips was out, Mutcher was out. So it's not quite last year's O afterall. Don't forget we lost a fullback who is now in the NFL. On the season which includes 2 games against the FBS - Rush: 125.7; Pass: 290.3; Total: 416. These aren't stats to complain about.
