Not that it's surprising or anything, but good to see it.

Adams, a 6-foot, 180-pound sophomore, has continued the long line of terrific quarterbacks at Eastern Washington, including Payton Award winners Erik Meyer (2005) and Bo Levi Mitchell (2011). Adams opened the season in scintillating fashion, gaining a school-record 518 yards of total offense with six touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) in the Eagles' 49-46 upset of nationally ranked Oregon State.

Through four games, the 2012 finalist for the Jerry Rice Award (which goes to the FCS freshman of the year) ranks second in the FCS in total offense per game (394.8 yards) and third in pass efficiency (189.9). He has completed 81-of-126 passes (64.3 percent) for 1,390 yards and 15 touchdowns with only four interceptions. He also has rushed for 189 yards and two touchdowns on 41 carries.

If he continues at the same pace for the rest of the year...

243/378 (64/3%), 4,170 yards passing, 45 TDs, 12 INTs, plus 567 rush yards and 6 rush TDs at 4.6ypc.

Nice, we just need to find some defense to go along with that now.

But seriously, though. I gotta think Flanders from SHSU will be the front-runner. Doubt they award it to a Sophomore.

Those are some crazy numbers, but personally I would like to see more dedication to the run, Almost seems like we have gotten way too pass happy. Haven't looked at the ration over the last couple of games. I know I know when you are behind in a game you will tend to pass more but when we are not it seems like we are not putting an emphasis on running the ball much. Just my opinion.

I actually think we over-comitted to the rum against Sam Houston. Even behind 2 TD's, still running the ball. Just sayin'.

Full disclosure here. I missed most of the end of the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th so my evaluation is based off of everything before that (watched every game). So maybe I need to preface before writing something like I did.

I felt like we had a really nice balance in the last game between the run and passing game. But defensively that is the worst game I have watched the team play in many years. Have to give credit to the Bearkats though, that is a very talented team.

It wasn't like Adams had time to look for receivers. The absolutely controlled the line of scrimmage the entire 4th qtr.
My DVR didn't record the entire game due to the rain delay so I am going from recollection of watching the first time but their defensive scheme shut our offense down.
The question is how much will see the same scheme and how will we handle it?

Yeah, he pretty much had zero time which was pretty frustrating considering the O-line has been pretty good in pass protection this season. When we finally went with the screen plays late in the game it was too late to make a difference. We should have adjusted to their aggressive defensive schemes much earlier in the game, IMHO. It's not like we didn't know they were going to blitz almost every play.
