Adjusted Expectations

I see EWU winning out. Getting a first round bye. #6, #7 or #8 seed. MSU will win out as well and win the BSC.

Lose in semi's.

Next year looks real promising as most of front 7 seven returns. Defense will be much better. If I had to predict which year EWU has the best chance of winning it all, it's next year over this.

I see the season in a much better light...I don't see msu winning out I see either cal poly or isu beating them. Then a loss at Montana. We are EAGS we will recover and overcome this experience.

With all the injuries we have had and the fact we are getting those guys back my expectations are just the same if not more.
GO EAGS!

Boom, this right here. Every experienced player we get back from injury the next few weeks will make us that much better, and the fact that so many younger guys have played so many snaps means our depth will be that much better come playoff time. I do think that there's a few key components that make this team "go", though...and getting Forte back was absolutely huge, even if we lost the NAU game.

I look at it as a blessing in disguise...some of those guys have been rehabbing for several weeks, so it may mean they aren't at fatigued at this point in the season and don't have a lot of lingering problems that the kids that have played every game might have.

Yep, MSU is just now hitting the toughest part of their conference schedule. Cal Poly is playing with confidence as is Idaho St. and MSU's game with Montana is never a sure thing. I see at least one loss in this mess for them.

My expectations for getting the big prize has not changed. In fact, I think we're better prepared for it. The only expectation that disappoints me most is we won't be guaranteed a home playoff run. But, we weren't in 2010 either or even last year. We were blessed by others seeded above us losing for our home run. We're going to be hitting our stride at just the right time. I see us dominating the next three games both offensively and defensively. We are so balanced on offense I have no idea how opposing DC's prepare for us. The rotating D-Line system to keep guys fresh is really shaping up well. As a unit those guys are really playing well and Samson and DZ should be 1st team BSC, in my opinion.

I hate saying this but I think NAU has the inside track on the automatic BSC playoff spot. I don't see them losing. I would bet a lot of $$ that ISU beats MSU. ISU is definitely a playoff team. I see MSU beating Cal Poly, which will have the folks on egriz bragging about the griz hangover (they gotta brag about something). In my scenario, that leaves four one-loss BSC teams going to the playoffs. NAU will be grumpy because we'll be seeded higher and they might get to come to Cheney for a good helping of humble pie.

In all seriousness, I like our chances for Frisco better now than I have all season.

NAU winning out helps our seeding as does MSU and I'm much more interested in getting a top 4 seed than a conference championship.

Ideally, we win out and:

MSU 10-2
NAU 9-3
ISU 8-4
Cal Poly 7-5
UM 7-5

Or…

MSU 9-3
NAU 9-3
Montana 8-4
ISU 8-4
Cal Poly 7-5

Depends on whether a win against a potentially top 5 MSU trumps an additional top 25 win against Montana.

Do you think we could get a top 4 seed if we do not earn the Big Sky auto bid, or do you think the Big Sky could get 2 teams in the top 4 seeds?

#1 is way more likely than #2. I think you'd likely need at least two one loss teams for both to be top 4.

in 2012 EWU was the 2 seed, MSU was the 3 seed. EWU had a 9-2 record, MSU 10-1. Eastern won the auto bid that year and had a head to head win over the cats so it can happen.

Two big sky teams getting top 4 seeds this year is a stretch. MSU and EWU are really the only two deserving teams for a top 4 seed and that bascially means both of them have to win out. If that happens, MSU is almost certain of a top 4 seed, EWU would need help from other teams in other conferences losing, One of the CAA schools and probably Ill St.

I don't see the BS getting two of the top 4 seeds, in fact maybe lucky to get one. I agree NAU has the inside track for the auto bid. Eastern will have a better win/loss record thus a chance at higher seed. Doesn't that sound odd that an auto bid could be seeded lower than a team they beat. I will be very surprised if the Cats win out thus a three way for the conf championship. The Big Sky does not recognize head to head so it would be a tri-championship. There are still a lot of ifs to consider. If ISU wins out they have one conf. loss and could be in the conversation, as could Cal Poly. Obviously if both of those teams win out the Cats are outside looking in regardless of what happens in the Cat/Griz game (IMO a definite possibility) and there could be a quad-championship.
My understanding is the committee looks at overall record so the Eagles would have 2 losses and the rest of the BS would have 3 losses. If the Eagles are seeded my guess is it would be #4 and in the NDSU side of the bracket so a trip to beautiful downtown Fargo would be in order. Let me know if my understanding is correct.
Isn't November football fun?

I'm wrong already because Cal Poly goes to ISU so the quad championship is out of the equation.

MSU may have the toughest road to close undefeated in conference play but has too much offense for CP IMO. CP is definitely a surprise team after early season travails. Heck of a coaching job. At home CP certainly has a chance.

All we can control is how we finish. Win out and let the chips fall where they may. Still looking forward to winning a Natty this year as the team overcomes this bit of adversity and runs the table. Homer till the end!

So here's my take on NAU. Yes, They have had and will remain to have the easiest BSC schedule. They don't have to play either Montana school, ISU or Sac ST. The 2 tough teams they faced were both at home and they won those games by a combined 4 points (Cal Poly by 3 and EWU by 1). They also lost to UNC and South Dakota. There remaining games are cupcakes vs: @ Weber ,UC Davis, @UND, SUU. I honestly think they will drop 1 if not 2 of those games. If they run the table, they will be 1 and out in the playoffs. Just my thoughts.

I just don't see the Big Sky getting 2 teams in the top 4 this year. MSU and EWU are the only teams with shots at a top 4 seed and both have to win out to get one. Not sure if the committee would reward both teams, would take a lot of help in other conferences. Our best bet for a top 4 seed is to win out (a must) and have MSU drop one so we have a shot at the conference title.

This is a big weekend for some top 10 teams that could really help us seeding wise if we win out.

Cal Poly is favored to beat MSU a Cal Poly win would be good for us
Villanova has to play at Richmond, a Spiders win would really help us
Ill State plays at UNI, would help us if UNI wins.

The odd thing about the top 4 is how are they going to seed Jacksonville State and Coastal Carolina. Both teams ranked in the top 5 and probably won't lose another game. The problem is they come from lower level conferences that typically don't do well and aren't considered one of the top 4 conferences. They both won 2 playoff games last year so I guess that bodes well for them.

loloman,
Saw Todd making some tackles yesterday, he looks great. Just hope he stays healthy. Looking forward to seeing our team practice on Tuesday. Hope to see "The West Side Crews" this weekend. Vic

dozy,
Missed you and the family yesterday, I left my truck as soon as the gates open, 12;30p.m. Dylan, I don't have to tell you, Dylan is looking great as well as the entire team. Nice to see how our Freshmen, Juniors, etc is performing for the team. Ronnie Hamlin needs 2 tackles to tie J.C. Sherritt, 3 to take the lead. Just hope our team become really healthy by Saturday. Got home from the game about 4.00 p.m., sat on my bed, before I knew it I was crashed until about 10 p.m. Was very tired once I got home. Take care. Vic
