I told you all. This team is dangerously good. I don't care who you are, if this team can put up 500+ yards against a Wyoming team who has traditionally been strong on defense, we can beat anybody in the Big Sky. All the other schools have been telling us what we lost, but I've been out there telling everyone that this team would be better this year. Mike Hoke is the man! Unfortunately, 3-4 schools in the conference are probably just as strong. The odd thing is I say 3-4 schools because I don't know if Montana belongs with E. Wash, Sac, and Montana State as of yet. Heck, even Idaho State looked decent. Let's not dwell on the loss because this team will only get better as the year goes on. Most of these guys haven't had a lot of game experience. Utah State better watch out and bring their A game, because we don't care what they did against an Auburn team that probably will win 4 games this year.

+500!!!!!!!!!!!!!

agree with it all. 541 yds in hoke's first start! 300+ passing, almost 100 rushing. there isnt an automatic loss on our schedule. big sky better watch out. if our team plays to its potential which we saw right out of the gate, we could be very dangerous. just hope we have the intensity for big sky, no reason not too. i cant wait to get these ooc games over with!

Weber performed well, but let's be real. Wyoming is terrible this year. Utah State won't be much better, but have similar results against them and then you might start turning some heads. If EWU plays like they did against UW and can improve the stupid mistake turnovers, we're gonna be 10-1. BLM and WRs were lights out, and our lines and secondary more than held their own.

Now you be real, 550 yards against a Mountain West Conference foe is impressive. No, Wyoming is not going to win the MWC, but they are in that conference for a reason. I could say the same about Weber as you said about E. Wash. If Weber works on their special teams they could be 10-1 at the end of the year. I was in the stands for the E. Wash and Weber game last year, there wasn't a huge difference between the two teams. Weber could have easily won that game, as they were leading in the 3rd quarter.

I hate to side with an EWU fan, but there is a serious difference between Wyoming and Washington. Although I highly doubt the Eagles will go 10-1. They will lose at least two in Big Sky play. I guarantee it.

The jury's still out on Washington. The reality of the situation is we don't know who is good and who is not until about week 4 of the season. Washington could lose every game this year and Wyoming could beat everyone but Boise. I only use statistics in my analysis I don't base things on how good teams were last year. Last year doesn't amount to anything. Look at Virginia Tech and Auburn for polar opposite examples.
With that said, I am perfectly aware that E. Wash is the class of the Big Sky. However, as I stated before the gap between them and the other top 5 Big Sky schools is thin... very thin. Weber lost 3 close games last season, I've just hated to hear Weber discounted out of title contention all offseason. The whole point of my post is I've been saying we were going to be dangerous and we have the offensive stats to prove it. 550 yards against any division I opponent speaks volumes about a potent offense. Jury is still out on our defense.

Yeah, but you have no running game and if anybody pressures BLM he heaves it as hard as he can (overthrows), UW played base D most all day. I also believe that a solid running game (WSU, PSU, Cal Poly & MSU) will have some success on your defense.

Anytime a team can control the line of scrimmage especially on offense, run the ball and don't turn it over, they are going to win a lot of games.

EWU should be the favorites, they return most of their starters on both sides of the ball and two all conference safeties to help as their young corners develop. After that the Big Sky is wide open.

I would take a lot more out your ability to establish the run against Wyoming than what EWU could take out of beating UW.
