Air Force Transfer Considering ISU

...according to the (Loveland, CO) Reporter Herald:

Loveland grad Cam Michael is leaving Air Force and will transfer, said it wasn't an issue with the hoops team, but the lifestyle.

Michael is weighing his options b/w going juco or transferring to another DI program, options could include Idaho St, Hawaii or UTPA.

I believe he would have to redshirt--is that correct when they transfer from a military school? Are the rules the same? I would think so--can anyone clarify.
