Congratulations to Claire for her third straight 1st team pick. The Vikings will miss he
Interesting stats:
Sarah Strand of MSU is a very good player. She was chosen as co-defensive player of the year. She averaged 29.6 minutes a game with 7.3 rebounds and 59 blocks.

Katy Wade averaged 14.5 minutes a game or roughly half the minutes of Strand. She averaged 5.2 rebounds and has 56 blocks.

If Wade played 29 minutes, her averages would be 10.4 rebounds and she would have 112 blocks which would place her as the third leading shot blocker in the nation.

ratso, yes congrats to Claire but your extrapolations about Wade are wishful at best. Certainly she's a blocking machine but she's also apt to foul out before 29 minutes are done...needs some work there.

I love Wade's potential, as I've expounded on in several postings. She changes our whole defense with her presence and keeps opposing players from burning us with easy layups to which we are so vulnerable. But I have to agree that her propensity to foul is the only reason that I can figure why our coaches limit her minutes to a measly 14.5/game.

Although she has only fouled out of one game, she has commited 68 fouls in 420 minutes of play this season. Compare this to Sarah Strand who has commited only 72 fouls in 859 minutes, roughly half as many per minute played. She could use some improvement in this area.

As I've mentioned before, I believe our post coaches need to work with the girls to improve technique on the defensive end. Having said all this, I still believe that Wade's skills outweigh her liabilities and give us the best chance to win. Every good basketball team needs a defensive intimidator. The more she plays, the more she will gain experience and improve. It's up to our coaches to help her develop.

Congrats to Claire and GO VIKS in the Big Sky Tournament!!!
